News of the giant apocalyptic fight fight in the solar system of B-R5RB has been making the rounds, not just amongst EVE enthusiast blogs and video game specific websites, but mainstream media as well. However, I'm here to talk to you about another fantastic fight that happened right in KiteCo., the Giant Bomb Eve corp's back yard, and one of the best we've had in awhile.

It all started when one of our members went about exploring our little pocket of space, scanning down anomalous signatures with a non-combat space. Suddenly, he gave a SOS on voice comms, reporting that he was under attack. Around 10 of us formed up a quick response fleet, and managed to save him, chasing the attacker off. Not satisfied with merely scaring him away however, we pursued him for through a few solar systems, eventually running into the rest of his friends. We fought, blowing up almost all of them, and watched them warp away in their escape pods, only to apparently reship in bigger ships, and come back for round two. This, we were happy to oblige, and even rang up a few members of a friendly alliance who lived nearby to join in the fun. The second time around was a bit more even, and everyone limped away, pleased with the good fight.

Here's where the best part started. As they made their way home, our fleet commander (FC) received a message from theirs informing yet another gang of ships were out and about the area, and were in fact coming our way. We gave a word of thanks for the intel, and prepared for a third fight for the night. When that second group showed up on top of us, it was quickly clear that we were not going to be able to win this one alone. Their ships were quite big, shiny, and expensive, and we lacked the fire power to overpower their logistics ships (space priests.)

Not wanting to high tail it, our FC sent another message to that first group of aggressors, asking "Wanna help us dunk some things?" The question was met with a "Hell yeah!", and a few minutes later, our old frenemies were back on field. At the end of the night we both went home happy with green kill boards, green fun boards, and greener intergalactic relations.

EVE is quite an amazing and dynamic game, and adrenaline rush inducing fights like the above don't require the years needed to fly one of the $3000 Titans of B-R5RB fame. Barely a week of play, and you're already well set on helping contribute to fights like the above, as long as you find a good group of duders to fly along side with, so join in and find your own fun.

I wish the explosions actually looked that good. They did a good job overlaying the old UI (and omg those old portraits) on top of rendered video. That's how I want the game to look in 2-3 years.

The sentiment is totally correct though.
