If Nintendo didn't care about "lesser" franchises, we probably wouldn't be getting Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. There's always a possiblity that a new F-Zero could come eventually.

In years, maybe, but by generation, no. There was an F-Zero game on every home platform Nintendo's made since the SNES era, as well as an arcade game. That's not bad given that more prolific franchises have flamed out and died in a shorter span of time.
Yup F zero for the snes, A Japan only sequel, F Zero x for the nintendo 64, F Zero maxium velocity for the game boy advance, F Zero Gx for the Gamecube, AX for the arcades and Gp and Clash also for the Game boy advance. Actually there was never a F Zero game for the game boy or Game boy Color, but that's not suprising, but those aren't home consoles to begin with. The only home console it hasn't been on yet is the Wii.
I'm hoping they'll announce a new F-Zero game at this year's E3. F-Zero GX is my favorite racing game of all time, so I'm really looking forward to a sequel.
