The third game in the Fable series sets you with the task of overthrowing your own brother, the tyrant ruler of Albion, as the kingdom enters the industrial era.
Fable III For PC Gets A Date, New DLC Announced
Perhaps falling under the experience optimization banner are these two key additions to the Games for Windows Live Fable, which the 360 version doesn't have: 3D support powered via NVIDIA and a “hardcore mode” that nebulously adds “a higher level of difficulty.” I wonder if we’ll have to eat meat and tofu to stave off starvation? What about farting to relieve life-threatening gas build-ups? Oh, a man can dream!
== TEASER == This news comes via the recent Microsoft event in San Francisco, where another cool Fable III-related bit of information snuck out. As Major Nelson details on his blog, a second downloadable add-on for the RPG is hitting on March 1. “Traitor’s Keep,” as it’s being called, will offer up several new quests about a mysterious prisoner in three new areas: Ravenscar Keep, Clockwork Island, and the Godwin Estate.
Traitor's Keep will be sold at 560 Microsoft points, and while no release platforms have been mentioned, I imagine both the Xbox 360 and the PC version will get this content.

Microsoft has a weird way of alienating the PC gamers and still trying to make a buck or two with late shoddy ports. It's baffling, seeing how they never bothered to port over Gears of War 2 and Fable 2.
Needless to say, this release will bomb. Fable is just not a thing on the PC, as one Mr. Navarro would say.
No, thanks Microsoft. And dear Microsoft, let me tell you: If this game sells poorly (and trust me, it will), thats not because we PC gamers all are evil people who pirated a copy of the game, its because the game is not good and you failed to even deliver Fable 2 to us.
So, with all due respect, take this game and shove it.
@Maluvin: No. Those games are good and more robust RPGs. Fable is more action oriented and gets farther away from RPG in every outing.
That being said, if you do want to try Fable I suggest either the 1st or the second. The first has a decent story with closure and is fairly fun (which you can get on PC, but it has one quest that breaks the game and they never bothered to fix- so don't marry a particular Mayor of Bowerstone or do any side quest relating to her). The second had decent combat, but a really flawed ending (XBOX only though, so don't know if that's an option for you).

Honestly, I doubt anyone on pc gives a shit about this title anymore, especially after the half-baked track record of the release of fable game(s) on PC. There are so many other, better options... at this point the only sales this thing will get if it's put on Steam and on a ridiculous sale.
Buy Witcher 2 and DA2 instead.
Well, I'm hoping that "hardcore mode" refers to completely changing the game so that it is fun to play. Then I'd be all over this. Dunno about you guys, but I still think Fable is better than either of its sequels. The Lost Chapters version was awesome on PC.

Fable is not a thing on the PC because (as you said) MS has done its best to prevent it from being that. It's odd that they choose to release the worst title in the series on the PC, but not the one that got the best reception (F2). I absolutely agree with the rest of what you wrote.
I'm really tired of MS's ways here. It's as if they don't understand at all that games and gamers have been essential in keeping their operating system market-share, and that pissing on them and emphasizing consoles (which they make very little money on) might hurt them in the OS space over time. They HAVE been losing market share since they entered the console space and started undermining PC gaming (buying out devs, dropping PC publishing plans).
" The Fable series should have died a long time ago. "yea i hated it since the first one lol

Too little too late. They took their sweet ass time and now anyone who would have played it either played it on Xbox or doesn't give a shit anymore. With so many better RPGs coming out on PC this would be a waste of money to buy.
" If they fix a lot of the complaints that is one thing but it is is just higher res and you can use a mouse then it wasn't worth the wait. "If they gave me a mouse and highers res/draw distance on Red Dead Redemption on the other hand... Yes please. I own a 360, but I just can't bring myself to suffer through shooter mechanics on a gamepad.
" Same day as The Witcher 2. So now we have to choose between one of the best looking PC exclusives in a long time or a many months late console port of a game that wasn't all that great to begin with. "Oh damn didn;t realize that. The Witcher 2 obviously
