The first bits of paid DLC for Fable III have been announced and confirmed for a November 23 release in the US. And as a heads up, you may want to stay put in the main story line, as the Lionhead appears to be suggesting that the most substantial DLC hitting this date needs you to be in the middle of the action.

That aforementioned content is "The Understone Quest Pack," which adds three new quests and an additional area to the main quest line. Let's pull it apart. "The Voice," the first quest mentioned, takes place in an underground lair beneath Bowerstone. Other than a new area, it'll add a new moral decision for you to make that will "lead to two drastically different outcomes" in the area. "Shooting Range," the second quest, adds a shooting mini-game to the mercenaries-laden area in a post-Saker world. By recording high scores in this game, you'll unlock weapons to use. "The Wheel of Misfortune" is pretty similar. You'll be asked to return to Reaver's mansion to beat times in his arena. High scores unlock more weapons.

    No Caption Provided
== TEASER ==Lionhead also announced three other packs for a November 26 release: "The Exclusive Hair Pack," "The Five-Star Dog Potion" pack, and "Reaver Industries Hero Outfit." The hair pack will give access to corn rows, afro, and asymmetrical bob styles, while the dog will give your doggie five-star abilities across the board. The Hero Outfit is, as you might expect, a new bit of clothing.

Sound good? Let's talk price. The Exclusive Hair Pack is priced at 160 Microsoft Points; the Five-Star Dog Potion Pack will cost 80 MSP; The Reaver Industries Hero Outfit is 160 MSP, and the Understone Quest Pack is set at 400 MSP.

DLC is always nice, but I've never played Fable II, and only just the slightest bit of Fable.  I own both of those, so I probably won't play any of this for III.

Probably not worth it, but selling hairstyles and dye's? Really?
Can't we go back to old fashioned expansions packs that are actually worth buying?

Game wasn't even worth the full price. How about some free DLC for your shitty game, Lionhead?

Molyeneux went nuts with the DLC this time.
Normally I'm the last person to bitch about a DLC's 'value' but there is some very clearly cut content.

The Dye pack comes to mind - this is something that straight up should have been in the game, failing that it should have been included with new copies - they want me to pay a dollar to dye my clothes black.

There are so many blocked off paths, locked doors and other really obvious places for DLC to be tacked on - it feels so goddamn cheap. There are tons of doors that just don't work in Bowerstone Castle, and yet there's ONE, right next to your world map that says 'This door is locked' (your content  has been cut, please pay 400MSP and wait a few months).

A huge middle finger to the fans with all this shit Molyeneaux....Fable II had great DLC (even the free packs gave you one or two items of clothing and let you see the missions if your friend paid up) and I'd heard him muttering about pay in-game gold and MSP for a boat ticket or something, he failed to mention that the dock wouldn't be added after the fact as part of DLC, it would be sitting right there on day one.

Noooope.  I loved the first two Fables even though they fell short.  This new one is just a bunch of bullshit where you either hold the A button or the X button for a second, and then you watch loading screens while you wait to go back to Whereverthefuck for the umpteenth time.  Not paying to do that more.

    FIRST

    FOUR

I am really pissed with DLC at this point. Fable III is a game that you should be able to buy and say "yeah, I've got Fable III." This is a problem for me with Mass Effect 2 as well. Instead they have to render the disc incomplete by dumping out stuff that fans feel obligated to buy.

Rock Band songs make sense. Map packs make sense. New campaigns I will begrudgingly accept. But adding to an open world game just makes the original disc feel incomplete, which is an offense to those who purchased it.

Stop laying out so much crap and make proper DLC's for a better price and value.  As a fan of all the Fable games, i won't touch this... Fable 2 got two DLC's, and those were good. Make the hair styles and dyes free and let us pay for the big stuff. This is getting ridiculous and out fo hand.

A bit of backlash from more devoted gamers, but it's likely the DLC will still sell well, and they'll just keep doing this shit.

This is the kind of game I would like to see a proper expansion adding new features and places and story. A couple quests and some hair is a fucking joke. Shit that has clearly been kept out from the retail version. They are even charging people 80 points for the other dye pack. Really?

Corruption. thats all this is... All of this stuff was made a long time ago, they just chose had to pick a few things to cut out of the game so they could make people pay for it a month after release... like the shooting mini game was already a part of the last game - it was alright, but not something to make people pay extra for... Corruption.

I'm all for more DLC. I'm not for the part where "you may want to stay put in the main story line" because I've finished it and have no intention of starting over. Pretty much fuck that.

If Lionhead couldn't do anything more annoyingly weird, release quests that i have to be in the middle of the story i have finished. Nice goin' guys...That is of course if that's how it pans out.

Either way, all will be good when and if we get a quest line in a certain obvious place.

I'm at the point where I just don't wont buy DLC unless its a stand alone story like the Episodes for GTA IV.. doing it any other way is pointless. Especially with a game with so much content like Fable, this just feels like fluff. This is the same issue I had with the Red Dead DLC.

Just realized The Ballad of Gay Tony was the last DLC I bought.

The Fable II DLC quests were pretty solid, but Fable III really didn't pull me in anywhere near as much. So, I'll probably be taking a pass on all of this.

Freaking DLC costs too much for what they offer. The only thing that seems "fair priced" is the Understone DLC. Everything else is a rip-off IMO.

pretty boring if you ask me. 3 quests in fable 3 would last about 2 or 3 hours, unless it is about finding stuff like the books in the main game.

If I want to play more Fable, I think I will replay the second game of the franchise.

@cide: The Red Dead DLC is all stand alone.  All of it but Undead Nightmare is multiplayer stuff, and then Undead Nightmare is reached via a separate menu, just like the GTA IV stuff was.

ok that pisses me off clearly they had this made and are going to charge extra for it. the DLC business needs reform here. Because charging $60 for a full game and keeping some of it to charge people more is rediculous. We should boycott shti like this

I personally think DLC and online patches were the worst thing that has happened to the gaming industry.  It allows companies to release unfinished games with the thought of either patching bugs (why even test games anymore?) or adding content that was originally slated to be in the game.

The problem is that they are making buckets of money from this stuff.  For every 1 person that remembers how complete games used to be 10-15 years ago, there are 2 that will drop $5 from their parent's credit card without even thinking twice.  Why should any gaming company be satisfied with spending several million dollars on development to sell a $60 game when they can hold back features and eventually sell a $85 ($60 + DLC) game when it has finally been completed?

Simple math that our nickel and dime society is fully justifying.

The missions pack seems decently priced, but I already beat the damn game twice (the second being an Albion I actually don't mind going back to), so I'm not going to start up a new game just so I can see one or two new worth-while quests.

If it's anything like Fable 2's dlc, I would advise against getting it
