Nice launch day, geniuses...

So, the game launched today. Their website says "scheduled downtime today, 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM".

Wow. Don't get me wrong, MMOs usually have slightly rough starts, but you usually figure they might make it at least the first six hours...

Too many MMO makers are completely unprepared for the implications of making a MMO. It's just a bunch of business fatcats with no concept of what real videogame development is like, they see WoW and say to themselves they will make that. They blindly lead a bunch of skilled developers right off a cliff, time and time again.

Wow at the ignorance in this thread. If you were really interested in playing FE you could have been playing since Sept 9th. Having the servers down for 6 hours for a patch is pretty reasonable, especially since they got the servers back up ahead of schedule. Most MMO launches I've been apart of usually the servers come up in mid-afternoon and go down sporadically during the first couple of days. FE launch has been relatively smooth.

Calling Icarus Studios "business fatcats" is pretty laughable. They are as indie as game devs can get.

aside from that it's a pretty damn good game. Sure it has it's flaws and isn't for everyone but for people that are tired of dumbed down MMO's this one is kinda refreshing.
