This game actually has some pretty decent stuff included in the Collectors/Survival Editions. I wouldn't even consider the Survival Edtion, but the Collector's is pretty tempting. What version of the game are you planning to buy?
Fallout 3
Game » consists of 45 releases. Released Oct 28, 2008
In Bethesda's first-person revival of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG series, the player is forced to leave Vault 101 and venture out into the irradiated wasteland of Washington D.C. to find his or her father.
Collectors/Survival Editions
As cool as it sounds, I would just pass on that and just get the game regular; this if speaking from someone that bought the collectors edition of GTA4 and while it felt nice at first, I do regret not having that extra money now.
I've never bought a collectors edition game before..I just can't see spending the extra money for what most of them offer.
"I've never bought a collectors edition game before..I just can't see spending the extra money for what most of them offer."The Fallout 3 collectors is AWESOME.
Hopefully the CE for me.
This is probably one of the better CEs out there. Having said that, I also chose to waste a whole bunch of money on the Survival Edition (AKA PipBoy 3000).
I would get the Survival Edition if and only if I could wear the Pip-Boy. Nothing is awesome about a damn alarm clock.
there is a survival edition? i got the one with the metal lunch box which one is that? are they different?
"there is a survival edition? i got the one with the metal lunch box which one is that? are they different?"as far as I know, the survival edition is the same as the collector's edition, only with the added bonus of a pip-boy 3000 alarm clock and a heftier price tag.

Hmm...I think i'll pass and just get the game. The content alone should keep me busy for a few months. Can't say i wouldnt like some 'making of ' content and artwork, but i dont really feel like spending the extra 20 bucks. ( don't know what i'd do with the lunch box.)

I just preordered the collector's edition (off amazon ironically). I want that lunchbox. So I can eat lunch. That I brought from home. What I don't want to do is pay extra money for a clock that I will never use. The best part was that my mom totally let me get it because she has no idea about the actual content of the game. Meanwhile my friends will be envious because they have parents who are strict about this kind of stuff.
GTA IV and MGS 4 and Now Fallout 3. Those are the only Collector's Editions I've preordered that I can remember. They are all very good games, and came with items I was actually interested in. That is, with the exception of Fallout 3 which I am impatiently still waiting to play...but I'm pretty sure it will be great, and if not, they'll patch in the greatness in a few weeks. :D
I'm buying my brother the Survivial edition and getting the regular for myself. The Pip-Boy bobblehead and the lunch box would be cool as heck, but my wallet's taken a huge hit this month on gaming.
"Split the difference and get the Collectors ed for both of you. It has the the bobble head and lunch box. Survival just comes with an alarm clock (which looks cheap to me).I'm buying my brother the Suvivial edition and getting the regular for myself. Hmmm, I might just bump up to the Collector's Edition. My brother works hard but doesn't have much extra cash. He seemed really interested in the Survivial Edition, and it's the least I can do for him as a bit of a surprise. As for me, yeah, I'm not all that interested in another watch or alarm clock.
I've got the Survival Edition arriving from Amazon tomorrow with "Release Date Delivery."
I'm giving the lunchbox & bobblehead to my wife & using the clock for myself. ;)
I can't wait! I'm picking up a guide from the store tomorow (I didn't want to pay shipping for a guide that wasn't going to arrive until 2 days after I started the damn game :P )
Just getting the standard edition of the game. i got the collector's editions of Halo 2 & Gears of War and the extra disc did not justify the extra price for me in my opinion. I just want the game and the strategy guide....

Yeah thats what I think im going to do not worth 20 extra dollars for poster and bobble head for me but Survival edition sounds awesome.
wait... all amazon tells me is that the survival edition has everything that the collectors edition has plus a clock... really?
"EventHorizon1 said:Good, now you can put that extra money towards other games like Gears...."Just getting the standard edition of the game. i got the collector's editions of Halo 2 & Gears of War and the extra disc did not justify the extra price for me in my opinion. I got the CE. I like all the little extra bells and whistles. But an extra 50 buck for an alarm clock was too much for me to go to the SE.
I'm picking up the Collector's Edition in about an hour. Looking forward to it greatly! I'll be posting some unboxing photos as well :)

Then some dood kept talking about how he drew the things that he saw in his head. Then they talked about Washington D.C. and how they wanted to show it blown up.
