And more.

http://www.giantbomb.com/guides/fallout-3-megaguide/645/

Me, systech, and Jayge started it up on December 17th, got it turned around in 3 weeks. Brought in natetodamax as a hired gun to help us close it out, and here we are.

This includes:

  • Main quest walkthrough
  • sidequest walkthrough (including unnamed sidequests)
  • Unique weapons information (still in progress)
  • Achievement guide
  • DLC for later
  • Bobblehead locations
  • Perks by level
  • SPECIAL and skill breakdown and analysis
  • Guide to all available companion characters
  • Weapons schematics locations and required components

So yeah, use it please, and leave comments or feedback :) We'll be finishing up the weapons section shortly and continuing to revise any problems that come to light.

I'm glad this beast is finally shown off! Again, feedback will be greatly appreciated for sure.

Awesome stuff guys.  Really great guide from what I've been looking at so far, I still can't imagine writing a guide for a game like Fallout 3.

#4 Posted by TheGamerGeek (2498 posts) -

Holy shit-a-toilet-seat that's a big guide.

#5 Posted by Jayge_ (10221 posts) -

It's not really complete yet in terms of totally filled out sections not related to quests... but yeah. We'll fix that up.

#6 Posted by MB (12408 posts) -

I'll pin this to the Fallout 3 section only.

Awesome, I've been looking for a good Fallout 3 guide!

#8 Posted by Gorillawhat (1259 posts) -

I'll use it when I play the game in 8 months

#9 Posted by Rowr (5649 posts) -

nice job guys.

#10 Posted by ThomasP (1656 posts) -

That is a huge guide. I haven't played the game myself, but browsing through it, it looks like you covered A LOT! Congrats.

#11 Posted by Discorsi (1390 posts) -

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

#12 Posted by Claude (16254 posts) -

Very nice, I'll be using it on my next play through.

You guys should be awarded for the sheer amount of time taken compiling the information in this guide.

I, for one, give you my appreciation.

"Fawkes

The first time you meat Fawkes is in Vault 87 while looking for the G.E.C.K. Let her out, and she'll get it for you. After that, you'll be taken to Raven Rock where you meet up with her one more time when you get out. Fawkes will only come with you if you have Good Karma. If you don't, you can find her by the entrance to Underworld in the Museum Of History.

Fawkes is pretty much your reward for staying good for the entire main quest. All you need you know is that she is the best companion in the game, and if you already got all the evil status achievements, go good immediately. Like any other companion, Fawkes can trade equipment with you (minus armor). She deals tons of damage with both default weapons and The only downside that was noticed were that she gets stuck in small areas sometimes. If you aren't too prone to combat in the open Wasteland, take her along. You'll be glad you did."

I doubt you're that retarded. So you must be just trying to be an asshole.

Either way, a loser is you.

You obviously didn't even look at it. If you want to be a jerk, that's cool, but I would prefer if you were educated on what we actually did.

this looks great guys... really well done. I like that your questing segments are very easily laid out.  awesome.

#23 Posted by zitosilva (1840 posts) -

Great job you guys, you're doing some awesome work.

#24 Posted by HistoryInRust (6315 posts) -

Don't act like you're "posting factual information" in a vacuum.  You're trying to undermine the guide.

We have a guides feature on the site for a reason.  It's a help to the community and a necessary component to flesh out the user-side of the site.

#25 Posted by NoDeath (798 posts) -

Ive already put a decent 50 hours into the game and this guide will probably help me put in another 20.
Also @Hexpane, I knew instanty which wiki you were refering to as I've been using it myself but regardless of the intent, your post read as if you were discounting the guide as rubish when from what I've read it rivals many "proffesionaly" done guides. so could everyone please stop the brewing flame war before it escalates.

#26 Posted by Thrawn1 (1340 posts) -

i'm going to post and pretend that I have something meaningful to add to this argument....oh wait, it's the internet. nevermind.

Agreed. We mainly wanted people to give feedback through this... Oh, and people saying "good job!"
#28 Posted by Jayge_ (10221 posts) -

Meh. The guide is much easier to use and streamlined. I myself used fallout.wikia and continue to use it as I play through the game (I got 1000/1000 gamerscore tonight, woo!), so I understand Hexpane's sentiments. Doesn't stop him from sounding like a douche though.

#29 Posted by BoG (5190 posts) -

Flaming ends HERE.

If it doesn't, face my wrath. Guides and wiki pages complement each other. Some information will likely be in both areas, but that is to make all sources more effective.
#30 Posted by IncredibleBulk92 (936 posts) -

Everytime I try to open the guide IE crashes, it tells me it cannot open the site, operation aborted.  Shame, I really want to read a little of the companion section :(

#31 Posted by natetodamax (19206 posts) -

Oorah!

By the way, wtf at the flamers? Chill out guys.

Same here.  I'm really interested in the guide.  I've tried Wiki and it's *alright* but ...   So anyone have any ideas why a couple of us can't open it?

Try Firefox.

#36 Posted by regmcfly (159 posts) -

That's pretty awesome. This game has eaten my life.

This is the best guide on the net.
#38 Posted by natetodamax (19206 posts) -

Just to let everyone know, I've started working on the Point Lookout walkthrough. I'll try to get it done sometime in the near future.

yay. 150 hours of my life eaten away is just around the corner.

I bet your not playing the PS3 version or perhaps you are and happen to be kind enough to deceive the public of it's problems.

No, we're not idiots. Why the hell would we play the PS3 version?

So your saying that PS3 owners and trophy whores are idiots? or was that a rhetorical question?
#43 Posted by Capum15 (4900 posts) -

Whoa, quite a few old threads being resurrected lately.

Or is this common and I just haven't noticed?

I totally could've used this guide back when I first started playing and didn't know anything.

#44 Posted by Systech (4078 posts) -
@Alphiehyr: No, don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say anything about trophy whores. The PS3 version, from the time that this was written, was in quite poor shape. I don't know if that's changed since its release, but it was the situation that we were in. We either owned the PC or Xbox versions because we wanted to play the game for fun. It wasn't until later when we decided to undertake a guide... Oh that, and none of us had PS3's.

A fitting entry for Fawkes.

This guide is epic. Great job on this. As a Fallout 3 fan this has my Crakey stamp of approval.
