A more action oriented Fallout scenario. 0

Fallout 3 is a massive game that offers dozens of hours of pure Western RPG action. Like Oblivion, Bethesda has promised to deliver several packs of DLC. As of now, they plan to launch one piece of DLC every month ending with March. This first expansion titled, Operation Anchorage, will thrust you into a simulation taking place in Fallout’s past before the nuclear holocaust. You’ll be in charge of assisting the U.S Army in dealing with a Chinese invasion in Alaska, no Cyborg Palin included. Opera...

    Fun but ultimately disappointing 0

Being the supposed final Fallout 3 DLC, Mothership Zeta obviously came with high expectations. Unfortunately for many, those lofty expectations probably won't be completely fulfilled. However, this is still a fun addon that will add several hours of gameplay as well as some nice alien loot for the player to enjoy.  Mothership Zeta takes place entirely aboard an alien spaceship, and like the previous DLCs is relatively combat focused with your PC having to mow down hoards of angry aliens. Fortuna...

Well at least it tried 0

As a played though this add-on it felt like it was leading up to something big. With all the diffrent machines you come across and the abominations you run into later on and the omonious alien head but it never got there. This was the final DLC and it should have gone all. Instead your left with coridoor crawling repetative actions with an ocsional interestiing machines that make you think "what was this for". Yet nothing is explained. The gunplay was fun and you pick up a few unique wepons but ...

Mothership Zeta could have been better than what was given. 0

Mothership Zeta is the fifth, and also might be the last DLC for Fallout 3. It takes place in space and you can acsess the DLC at any time on any level. With this being the final DLC, how does it hold up to the name?  You start off by getting a radio signal from some unknown thing. You are given a marker on your map on where the location of where the radio transmission may be at. Remember all the videos of the chrashed UFO with the Alien dead on the ground with the Alien Blaster right next to it...

An unflattering end to a decent run of DLC. 0

Those that have spent a large amount of time exploring the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3 have probably come across the downed Alien Spaceship before. It lies to the north and has little significance other than to provide you with one of the best weapons in the game and stir up some thoughts and musings at to how the ship came to be.Mothership Zeta - the final piece of DLC for Fallout 3 - is here to provide some answers, although you’ll probably be left disappointed by the results.    As per usu...

More fallout isen't a bad thing. Even if you're burned out on F3 0

I spent a chill saturday afternoon taking care of the last of the Fallout 3 DLC (according to Bethesda, but again, they say never say never). If I gotta place this on a quality scale, here goes, best on top of course… 1. Broken Steel 2. Point Lookout 3. tie- The Pitt/Mothership Zeta 4. Operation Anchorage …I played through it on the Xbox360, it’s also available on PC, and somewhere down the line it’ll be on the PS3…anyways, here’s my thoughts. The Good – As usual, I’m happy with any DLC in th...

Not the best Fallout DLC but still one hell of a ride! 0

I never understood why so many people hated the Mothership Zeta DLC, putting evil space aliens into a post-apocalyptic setting seemed like a perfect fit.  The world has been destroyed by war and on top of that the aliens decide come at finish the job.  Yes, it's mostly combat focused but the feeling you get from exploring the futuristic space craft is well worth the time and money.  The interior of the ship follows Fallout 3's 1950s style of what may remember seeing in old sci-fi movies of the e...

Youknow, the one time i buy DLC before i read a review happens to be Mothership Zeta... going on the fact that the other Fallout 3's fed my fallout 3 addiction (Its like crack to me) so bam! 800 points. download. anticipation. BAM, epic fail.  First off, No stimpacks in the expansion, so your fucked if you dont have them before you go in, be prepared to die, alot. Second, its just a linear path based shooter, for me, fallout 3 was a brilliant open world exploring kinda thing, this is just corrid...

Disappointing end to a great series of DLC 0

Mothership Zeta abducts the player to the titular spaceship, chock full of hostile aliens and their robotic servants. For the next 3-10 hours (depending on how many times you have to reload to have not messed up the fetch quest achievement) you'll be running around both inside and outside, stopping the invasion of Earth by outside forces. Oh, and stealing all their cool tech. And meeting a samurai! They say "save the best for last". Nobody told Bethesda it seems. This is pretty much as awful as m...

Fun If Your Character Knows Which End of a Gun Goes Boom 0

Do you like fighting? Do you like fighting with guns? Does your Fallout 3 character like fighting with guns? Then this, my friend, may be the downloadable content for you. Operation Anchorage does something interesting, it actually fleshes out the Fallout universe, something that is normally relegated to the pieces of information and data that are scattered through the various wastelands. This is the first time you've been able to play in the universe before the bombs fell and while it's linear ...

    Operation: Hemmorage 0

Combat is the primary focus of the Fallout 3 DLC named "Operation: Anchorage". How much you enjoy the combat in the game will probably determine how much you like this content. Once you've paid your 800 Microsoft Clippy-bucks and return to the Wasteland you receive an emergency call from some members of the Outcast Brotherhood of Steel asking for backup. A new landmark is added on the southern end of the map, and you're on your way.The Outcasts have discovered a hidden vault that they believe is...

    Operation: Linear Combat 0

Returning you to the Capital Wasteland and letting you jump right back into the boots of the Lone Wanderer, Operation Anchorage is the first of the Fallout 3 DLC packs. When you pick up a radio transmission from a group of Brotherhood of Steel outcasts you find that they have stumbled upon an armoury of valuable equipment and are willing to share some their stash with you should you be able to successfully aid them in opening the door to the armoury. It’s not as simple as it sounds though as the...

Not bad, but pretty skippable 0

The first DLC out of the gate, and looking back it's pretty obvious. After a quick bit of footslogging to find the actual quest line, you do some good ol'd mutie-killing before the real, actual content: a "simulation" (read: FPS game pastiche/homage) of the war in Anchorage against the Chinese. Success brings a great perk: the contents of a O:A-era storeroom full of items "acquired" during the war. This wasn't the best DLC, by far. The problem with it, personally, is it's a one-shot; if I miss so...

    Operation: Anchorage Review 0

Operation: Anchorage is the first add-on Bethesda has released for their blockbuster hit Fallout 3. The game starts off with you receiving a mysterious radio transmission from some ex-Brotherhood of Steel soldiers and making it your job to track their location and find out what's up. Turns out, there's a hidden bunker filled with weapons and armor from the conflicts in Alaska. Of course there's a catch; The only way to access the locked room is by going hooking yourself up to a computer that wil...

    DLC Done Better 0

The Pitt follows Operation: Anchorage in extending the lifespan of Fallout 3 and it hits the mark a lot more clearly than its predecessor, though it's still a little short for a wholehearted reccomendation. Once again a mysterious radio transmission guides you to someone in need of help. I'll avoid spoilers, but this person's cause seems much more critical than the Brotherhood Outcasts and one way or another, you find yourself in the ruined, blighted city of Pittsburgh.I've never visited this lo...

The Good – Anything that extends the Fallout 3 experience for me is good. New area that becomes part of the F3 environment, as opposed to Operation Anchorage where I’ve read that once you’re done….you’re done, no goin back, they tell you you’re free to come and go as you wish in the pitt.  Addicting feching quest(steel ingots!), which not only give you an acheivement when you get all 100, but you get a piece of new gear for every 10 you find. Deep moral tug’o'war in the storyline that really m...

    A History Of Slavery, post-apocalypse style. 0

Very much broken for a loooooooong ass time post-launch, The Pitt sees your very own Lone Wanderer wandering to Pittsburgh's remains, into a world of slavery and steel mills. But first, you have to get tricked into becoming a slave yourself, before a long ride down a railway, joining the other slaves, losing all your gear, Trog-slyaing - and even pit fighting. At the end of all, you must make a very hard moral choice...This one's better - if it works. Graphical errors, even after all the patches...

The DLC pack for players who can't get enough. 0

To date, I've purchased all of the downloadable content for Fallout 3. As you can tell, I kinda love that game. But  that love didnt always exist. I put it down for a good 3 months after my original playthrough. Mostly because all I wanted to do is finish the main story and just keep playing. But instead, all I got to do when I beat the game was watch that lame 2 minute ending. It left a bad taste in my mouth and was why I left it alone for a while. But caught word of this new pack,  that elimin...

The best of the DLC by far 0

Broken Steel expands the plotline post-ending to open-end the game somewhat, taking in the obliteration of all the Enclave at the hands of the Brotherhood. Along the way, Prime gets surprised, you get to go UNDER Old Olney, and you gain possibly the most ridiculously overpowered gun ever - the Tesla Cannon...This is the motherlode DLC; the level cap's raised to 30, a new post-ending plotline is added, there's a whole new set of perks, enemies, everything! Not as good as actual game. Better than other DLC. 0

The main quest is interesting revolving around a rivalry that takes place in the island. The story is unrelated to the setting which made the plot seem disconnected with other events happening on the island. You would expect to find out more about the tribes and locals of Point Lookout by completing the main quest but instead you go on this tangent plot line of characters that migth as well have inhabited the Wasteland. The new weapons are mostly for mele attacks which is the least interesting c...

    Point Lookout DLC Review 0

When I first heard about the concept of DLC on consoles around the 360 launch, point lookout is exactly the type of DLC that imagined in my head. Good size, well made and fairly priced. Looking back at past fallout 3 DLC operation anchorage was too linear and combat focused for my liking, I think the pitt was a big step forward and gave me more of the fallout that I love but maybe a bit too short for the price and broken steel let’s be honest was more of a fix than DLC but good none the less. The best DLC so far and an absolute must buy. 0

Fallout 3's downloadable content endeavours have been churned out on a pretty regular basis throughout this year, with Bethesda seemingly gaining momentum on each successive release. Operation Anchorage set your wastelandian denizen in a brand-new snowy environment filled with different enemies and weapons, but its sole emphasis on combat left many feeling unfulfilled. The Fallout series has always been less about shooting fools than convincing fools to shoot themselves in my book, so Op. Anchor...

Man, I steamrolled through this DLC. For better or worse. Here goes nothing. Good: You cant really mess up fallout 3, at least for us so more of it is always nice to have. It’s a interesting take for an add-on and works well in the context of the game. The change of pace from dark to light land textures were needed. There is a good amount of “mountain” country which to me didn’t exist in fallout 3. It all felt flat apart from boulders. DC is not really known for that I guess. The addition of th...

    GAME OVER MAN!! 0

While not the best of the DLC, Mothership Zeta was a fun experience that made it worth the money.  While wandering the wasteland you pick up a radio signal that takes you to the fallen Alien Ship.   Once you arrive you get beamed up, put in an observation chamber and then the adventure begins.  It is all about freeing yourself and some new friends at first, until a small (but obvious) twist shows up.    Similar to Operation Anchorage, Mothership Zeta is a pretty linear experience.  The game offe...

Just when we thought Bethesda was done with Fallout 3 DLC, they go and announce more, we don’t mind Point Lookout was released on 6/23/09 for Xbox360 and PC. The PS3 version should be out later this year.  The Good – More Fallout 3, takes place in Maryland, new locales such as swamps and woods freshen up the scenery once again. Feels like a natural extension to the Fallout 3 world, not just an enclosed area like The Pitt was. New enemies reminiscent of the baddies in The Hills Have Eyes and ...

    Broken Steel 1

Ah Fallout 3, I've beaten you four times and you keep having me come back for more. The world that Bethesda has made is something that is truly great about Fallout 3 and is what helps it stand out among all other RPG/shooters. The ending is where the game truly shines, I won't spoil it for those who haven't finished it yet but it makes you feel like you did something good for the world, granted you did the good option which I did all four times. Saving Ten Bucks is Worth More Than Saving the Galaxy 0

Having played Point-Lookout and Broken Steel (the two add-ons that preceded this installment), I was expecting another decent expansion to an already endless Fallout universe. To be honest, I skipped Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt when I heard their technical faults and limitations were less than forgivable, but the trend would suggest that Mothership Zeta could be an exception to the rule, right? Apparently Bethesda missed the memo.  The plot isn't entirely worth explaining. All in all, a tr...

    Welcome to the Wasteland 0

Fallout 3's Capital Wasteland is a cruel and inhospitable place, fraught with danger. A nuclear armageddon has eradicated all but the most basic signs that this was once the capital of the USA. You might see some rubble that was once a house, now inhabited only by relics that were once a person's belongings, charred and rusted. A school building, its notice board still partly intact, serves as a home to a group of raiders. It's a terrible, dreary place where no one in their right mind would want ...

    9/10 - Game of the Year 0

I'm going to start off by saying "This has got to be one of the best games this year". I know its cliche, but in my books, nothing tops this game. Fallout 3 has the richest, most intriguing storyline, comparable almost to the half life story arc. From the moment you first step  out of the Vault, your plunged straight into a dark and twisted post-apocalyptic wilderness. When i first started with the quests, i found i was overwhelmed with the things to do, the places to go and the people to speak t...

This could have been a great game and it may yet become one. The game play is immersive. The reviews at this site capture the feel of the game. The only point I haven't seen mentioned is that the game is in reality a giant maze. While you can see all the places you're supposed to get to most of the streets and roads are blocked off - this is especially true in DC - so the player has to do a lot of trial and error wandering around to find the destination he's after. Once found, however, you can t...

    Flawed, but still fun 0

caption Fallout 3 is a game that's been a long time in the making. The original designers of the series have since bowed out of license, with the task falling to Bethesda Studios, best known for their work on the Elder Scrolls series of RPGs, and this is apparent at the very beginning of the game. The world of Fallout is a post-apocalyptic future where mankind has fled to the safety of a series of underground vaults throughout the United States to protect themselves from nuclear war and the hars...

In the future, civilization survived nuclear warfare by relocating into underground vaults. Fallout 3 begins as you the player are literally born in Vault 101 into the arms of your father (Liam Neeson). You are also given an electronic device called the Pip-Boy 3000 which tracks your health, skills and objectives. On your nineteenth birth...

    FALLOUT 3 REVIEW (PC) 0

Fallout 3 is the third game in the Fallout series (or the fifth, if you want to look at it that way), developed and published by Bethesda. It is a first-person, open-world role-playing game with heavy shooting elements. It was released on October 28, 2008, for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This review is based on the PC version. This is a hard game to review. Even now, long past its release, I'm no way near completing the game. There's just too much to do.         When people hear Fallout 3, the most common complaints are that it either doesn't stay true to the Black Isle style gameplay, or that it is "Oblivion with guns."  Thankfully, these critics may rest easy because Fallout 3 unquestionably delivers.    For the uninitiated, Fallout 3's setting is basically this:  what if you took the future, but the future as it was imagined in the 50s (atomic cars, robots etc.), then nuked all of it.  It is an action-RPG that has a heavy emphasis on survival as ...

Kick up some dust in the third installment of Fallout. 0

A long time ago, in a vault far, far away, PC RPGs were peaking and the world was introduced to the world of Fallout. Success followed, and fast forwarding to today we have the third installment. Bethesda has taken the helm this time around, and even though many a die-hard fan worried themselves sick over this news, Fallout 3 didn't turn out so bad after all. The basic premise is that the world has had its butt handed to it through the liberal use of nuclear weaponry. Children cried, parents c...

Bethesda's most polished RPG to date, but loses a little magic. 0

Bethesda has refined their open-world RPG formula down to a science. Fallout 3 is certainly the studio's most well-crafted game to date, giving you a much tighter, more focused and faster-paced experience than anything we've seen before in Oblivion or Morrowind. It's also refreshing to play a RPG based in our own world, grounded in science fiction with strong voice-acting, well-written dialogue, excellent sound design and a stable game engine. Gone are the days of having to worry about Quick Sa...

The moment I actually got out of Vault 101 and started exploring the Capital Wasteland, I realized that this game is defnietely better than Oblivion. Even though some might think that the land is mostly barren, empty, and boring, there are actually many places to find and many reasons to explore this rich world. The quests here are interesting, and some are very complex and even humorous (Stealing Independense) and will keep you involved in this game for a long time. Even though the actual gamep...

Before I go any further it's worth mentioning that even though the title suggests it's a sequel it is not anything like its predecessors and should be judged as a game in it's own right.
