Fallout: New Vegas 'Dead Money' DLC Detailed And Dated
If the name of the target didn't already tip you off, this content will feature new areas and terrain, as well as new enemies and moral choices, according to Bethesda in a press release this morning.
Dead Money will make its exclusive debut on Xbox Live this December 21. It'll be priced at 800 Microsoft Points. Here's what Bethesda VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines has to say about this content:
"We’re pleased to give fans a chance to expand their experience in Fallout: New Vegas this December with Dead Money,” Hines said in a statement. "The release of Dead Money illustrates our commitment to creating entertaining add-on content for players to enjoy in already massive games like Fallout: New Vegas.”
Sounds fun, though similar to the beginning of Fallout: New Vegas. Hopefully, come December 21, I'll actually be in a position to play this DLC. Those Brotherhood of Steel missions are a slog, eh?

I'm not giving a shit about this until I see this on the PC where it belongs. I'm tired of this whole "We’re pleased to give fans a chance to expand their experience in Fallout: New Vegas". So I take it your only fans are Xbox 360 players? NO!!! You don't give a shit about fans. You give a crap about the money that Microsoft is paying you.
You don't understand how pissed off I am about these companies saying their all about the fans when clearly all they care is the goddamn money they get from Microsoft. So fuck you Bethesda, fuck you.

I think the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 has reshaped how I'm going to approach New Vegas. If they follow through with a hefty amount of DLC, I may just play through the initial game this year and save the expansions for next christmas.
For Fallout3, I purchased both the Pitt and Broken Steel for $10 each... only to trade in Fallout3 back when it was worth $40 trade-in credit and purchase a GOTY copy for $28 five months later. I plan to save that $20 this time around :s

That is, only if you own the console the DLC supports. Damn exclusivity. A word on the PC version would have been nice, but I tend to expect too much.
I've had this game since launch and I just can't get into it at all. Shame because F3 is my favourite game of this gen.
So the companys make more money, some gamers get the short end of the stick. Don't really see a bussiness negative in there.
And the reason Bethesda accepted this is probebly becuase the meney Microsoft pays for the exclusivity makes up for the first month or so sales of the DLC on PC and PS3. And since DLC sells the best on 360 then that would be the logical place to have the exclusive.
" @ch13696 said:You mean pirate it? I know that's going to happen, but there's a bunch of people that did buy the game that would like to have the DLC for the achievements." I am sure this stuff will eventually come to the PC. I believe Steam got all the DLC for Fallout 3, just at a later time. I am going to get the game sometime soon on the PC, since it has Steam support.
Fallout 3 DLC for PC has been very successful. No respectful mod sites ever host pirated content." @ch13696 said:

If you're annoyed by DLC exclusivity and all that, do what I did with Fallout 3 and what I'm planning to do with New Vegas - wait until the Game of the Year edition appears on Steam (should be sometime early 2012) and get the game and all the DLC for $40-$50 - or even less if you hold out for it to go on sale. Oh the joys of delayed gratification! I don't mind paying for games, but I do mind paying full price.

Sigh... I was hoping this platform exclusive crap was done with. The PC is the platform to play this game on. I could not stand playing that game without the awesome mod community tweaking the game how I like.
I had to restart my game because of a corrupt save and restart again because I killed an NPC that makes the game lock up every time I enter the fucking city and Bethesda is like "Yeah, sucks to be you... HEY LOOK AT WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON INSTEAD OF FIXING OUR BROKEN ASS SHIT!"
My rage is a living entity of white hot fury.
" How will you load it? Can you use a completed game or have to Use a previous save? "This is what I want to know. I haven't quite finished NV yet and I don't want to until I know it won't lock me out of the game. But hey plenty of side stuff to muck around with.
My guess is that this isn't a game extender and thtat will come a few DLCs in like last time. Otherwise I'm sure there would have been mention of it.
Yeah, those Brotherhood of Steel missions are rough. I stopped playing the game at the point where it asked me to go into 3 incredibly well guarded vaults. Admittedly I stopped because I picked up super meat boy, but still.

I'm not one to take the actions of publishers and developers personally, but really, Bethesda, fuck off.
If you don't want to support the PC, don't put your game out on the PC. What you shouldn't do is put your game out on the PC and then give it half-assed support going forward. Or, and this is revelatory stuff here, how about a fucking warning when I'm about to buy the game?
"If you have the choice, you should probably go ahead and buy this for the XBox."
The Brotherhood missions were pretty easy ( I had explored Vault 34 earlier in the game). Except for the part where I chose the exact wrong dialogue options in the wrong order, bugging the characters and leaving me unable to start and finish the last mission. Amazing.
Love my time from beginning to end in Fallout New Vegas. Now have more of a reason to go back again.
" @TheMasterDS said:Yeah, basically. I like platformers though, and I'm good at them. Even beat just about all the hard world levels." Yeah, those Brotherhood of Steel missions are rough.
