The problem with Fallout new vegas is that without having seen anything out of it, we already know what its gonna look like. I don't expect to be surprised by anything they'll gonna show or announce concerning this game. Its gonna be fallout 3, in a post apocalyptic las vegas. With Elvis zombies and a mission to kill every zombie member of the Cirque du Soleil.

I'll wait for this to be free info on the internets as that magazine is really not worth £6 or whatever ridiculous price it is.

Or, since Obsidian's members worked on Fallout 1 and 2 (I know right, hard to believe Fallout 3 wasn't the first, but its right in the name) it'll be like Fallout 1 and 2, but in Vegas.

Yes but that would imply going back to turnbase tactical combat, and i dont think obsidian will change the engine. They'll just use Bethsoft's tools.

i wouldn't mind if they go back to the style of Fallout 1 and 2, those games were pretty awesome! But going back to an isometric viewpont and turnbased action isn't going to reach mass market nowadays. But i hope they don't just take the Fallout 3 engine and build Las Vegas instead of Washington. I also hope they will lean more on story telling and other skills then shooting, because the shooting (outside of VATS) isn't that good! In the first games you could even talk yourself out of a firefight if your speech skill was high enough.

Yeah it's totally possible to make a more Fallout-like game than that impostor known as Fallout 3. I hope Obsidian can do it justice. I mean sure they have a small handful of original Fallout developers, but they don't have any of the three main Troika guys.

I want people to forget about the Fallout IP so inXile can release a Wasteland game.

Although i had fun with Fallout 3, it is my least favorite from the franchise, not including Fallout Tactics which wasn't that good, but i still played it a lot because i loved the original games.

always loved the concept of fallout games, but the turnbased doesnt exactly hit it off with me. thats why i loved fallout 3 so much.
i cant wait for New Vegas, although i wish they used a different engine. because i dont know about you guys, but the gamebryo engine consistently fucks up my xbox.   Oblivion / Fallout 3 are the games that murdered my xbox

@TheSmilingDude: Tactics was 14 Degrees East or whatever they were called, don't think anyone from the original Black Isle team worked on it.

Quick list of points in the article:

-You get to set your age
-At the beginning of the game, you wake up to a doctor pulling bullet fragments out of your skull, and you have no idea who you are
-They're working on making the shooter mechanics better than in Fallout 3.
-Your skills are more important outside combat, and you can influence people with a high level of expertise in certain areas
-Super mutants are more dangerous, and there's a new type of Super Mutant who uses Stealth Boys
-The first town in the game is very Wild-West ghost town inspired
-There are a couple new melee attacks (Power attack, knockdown)
-Weapons can be fitted with a scope, larger magazine, silencer, etc.
-New "command wheel" for controlling NPC partners.
    -There's a grenade machine gun
-You can get a golf club as a melee weapon
-The Hoover Dam is a visitable location.
-There's a new "Hardcore" mode, where ammo has weight, stimpacks heal gradually over time, and you need to drink water periodically to not die.
-On top of your karma, you have a local reputation which affects your standing with specific factions and towns.
