so yea. new vegas for christmas is AWESOME. I have been playing the living shit out of it. I've only got one reoccurring problem, THE FUCKING GAME LOCKING UP ON ME. its installed on to the hard drive and it has happened probably upwards of 5 or 6 times on my now within the span of 4 days. If anyone could offer some insight i would be EXTREMELY thankful and happy holidays to everyone.

that game's crazy janky. i was absolutely in love with fallout 3, but put NV back on the shelf right after finishing the main story quests because i just couldn't handle the extreme jank.
Get the latest update, and clear the cache through HDD memory often. I'm 65+ hrs in and only one freeze. Replacing the disk could be another option I guess. Good luck. It's an awesome game, even incredible at times, but the bugs and glitches and freezes/long loads, all hold back it's greatness unfortunately.
Yup, I'll wait at least another year. It will still have many bugs by then but at least I will probably be able to finish it.
What's beyond me is the critical acclaim the game got despite that it is totally messed up technically. At least I heard no one considering it in various goty talks (or quickly dismissing it because of it's jankyness).
Just to add another side to this debate, I've put over 80 hours into it so far and the worst bug I've seen was a giant ant stuck in a rock.
I've been playing it on the PC and I have had no problems for nearly 10 hours now. You console guys got fucked. The load times are also pretty fast to and I'm running on a 6 year old machine. we'll see later though. Its on the oblivion engine so you know its gonna fuck up some time.
Common problem with the Gamebryo Engine, but worse with Fallout New Vegas. I fixed it by deleting the system cache. Then re-downloaded the latest patch and then i havent had a crash in 10 hours or more. You should try. Remember that deleting the cache will delete all patches for all games, though you can still patch them up again of course, so no worries.

"Yea, ive only had one issue, a crash, and just before it happened everyone in the Casino simultaneously exploded, which was pretty awesome.
dude the game is horribly broken and yet everyone defends it. check out my thread on what happened to me and see there responses? they tell me its basically my fault!

I can understand your frustration, but corruptions through DLC and other faults in the game is fixed by the 1.2 patch, like i wrote to you in that thread. In your case it got corrupted through crash in a middle of an autosave, which will happen with all games, though i think it's a bit odd that your manual save got corrupted aswell. And yes, it's New Vegas' fault because it crashed there. I'm not trying to defend, but to help. It helped me that i deleted my system cache and re-downloaded the patch, haven't had a crash in over 10 hours after it. I'm not saying that this will help you, but it's worth a shot. The crashes is caused by Gamebryo Engine, and if you played games with the same engine you would know that the engine is not very reliable, since it's so random what causes the problems. Some can get away with no crashes, while others every hour. It's unfortunate that this game got shitstormed with problems etc, because it's really a good game beneathall of it.
I too got the game for Christmas, on 360. I'm 12 hours in and haven't had a single lock up. I'm running it from the hard drive and have downloaded the update, and the only glitch I've had thus far is a Lakelurk that didn't seem to want to die after I had drained its health in VATS. The framerate stuttered in spots but thus far it's been a pretty awesome experience. I've gotten to the end of the story missions (I plowed through the Caesar missions) and am now doing the fuckload of side quests that I've racked up so far in my playthrough. I don't know if taking the disc back to the store would be effective since it's running from your HDD and still locking up on you.

The only game breaking bugs I ran into on the 360 version were when my companions wouldn't follow me out of a dungeon, so I'd have to backtrack and basically "nudge" them out.
It(the 1.2 big one)came out before that so you're good. But like I said, delete the cache from your HDD often. Yes you have to redownload the patch, but it only takes a minute, and the game runs sooo much better. 70+hrs for me and 1 freeze, and no corruptions. Plenty of goofy bugs though, and the occasional companion sticky.

How about you stop being a fucking douchebag and try and help the guy instead of being a cunt?

You can do it from the "Memory" menu on the 360, don't know if you can do it on the PS3. That's what I used to do when I was having trouble with Oblivion or FO 3.
