So since this has been announce I am already tingling with excitement. I've been thinking of all the things I'd like to see or what I think may be in the game. So this thread is just to share ideas, prediction and wants for the new game.
-Personally if there is not some underground ghoul casino I will be a little disappointed.
-I'd also like to see some sort of gun that has a slot machine board attached to it and depending on how your spin goes depends on the damage it doles out to the enemy.

Fallout: New Vegas - Official Topic of "speculation and wants"
"I want a decent third person view."I found that the third-person view in Fallout 3 worked pretty well - I just zoomed in until the character's legs couldn't be seen. That way it didn't look like my character was skating.
actual side quests
the world to not look so ugly and boring
more weapons and armor
better character customizing
new perks
much higher level cap like 50
play after ending
new perksI just assumed these would be a given on a new fallout game as they are adding it to fallout 3 via DLC
much higher level cap like 50
play after ending "

"MattyFTM said:Night-Vision is available through mods for PC already. Excellent to use with a darker nights mod (makes things proper dark, dangerous dark)."I want a decent third person view."I found that the third-person view in Fallout 3 worked pretty well - I just zoomed in until the character's legs couldn't be seen. That way it didn't look like my character was skating. As for what I'd like to see, a night-vision perk would be really neat. It would be perfect for a stealth character(well, any type of character really, but stealth characters would benefit from it the most)."
I would like the possibility for gardening and collecting seeds as a side-quests. You could grow herbs, vegetables and drugs but you have to find healthy plants or seeds first.
Proper guilds.
A Paradroid perk for people with science over 100
"well if they make a top down game like the old ones I say fuck you obsidianThis game should be fine if Obsidian is allowed to do what they do best.A proper Fallout game and not another sloppy FPS with some RPG elements.Hire voice actors with talent.Hire writers with talent."
and plus it won't be like that because the whole reason its coming out next year is because they are going to use the same engine
if the have to build a whole new engine your looking at 4 more years and it would just be fallout 4 then
"A non-VATS combat system that isn't crappy? Am I hoping too much?"but what would that be?
I speculate that this will be either an attempt to make a hybrid between old and new (and make the combat good), or a more of the same sequel that manages to cheapen the brand (which is the one I am leaning toward).
Obsidian made KotOR 2, they know how to make a bad sequel, but they also made NWN2, which means they know how to make a good sequel. But a lot of Obsidian staff also made the original Fallout games, which means that they know Fallout (as overrated as those two games have become). So the real answer is that I guess I need more information to really make a judgment on this game.

"Captain_Fookup said:I'm not talking about the ISOMETRIC views from the originals, I'm talking about the atmosphere and feel which is completely different from Fallivion. The engine is there and has been around for almost a decade. Obsidian will have more time to focus on the plot, characters, locations, and gameplay which are key components in an RPG which Bethslop hasn't been able to comprehend."well if they make a top down game like the old ones I say fuck you obsidian and plus it won't be like that because the whole reason its coming out next year is because they are going to use the same engineif the have to build a whole new engine your looking at 4 more years and it would just be fallout 4 then "This game should be fine if Obsidian is allowed to do what they do best.A proper Fallout game and not another sloppy FPS with some RPG elements.Hire voice actors with talent.Hire writers with talent."
Not a first person shooter or Third-person view, perhaps not isometric, but at least not the first two.
"Not a first person shooter or Third-person view, perhaps not isometric, but at least not the first two."whats left 2nd person?
"actual side quests the world to not look so ugly and boring more weapons and armorbetter character customizing new perks much higher level cap like 50 play after ending "pretty much that but espically the world not looking so ugly and boring even though it kinda has to for the setting
If they made a traditional fallout game in this day and age that game would fuckin suck and I would not buy it. Why would you try to play a first person game in third person? Also I happened to like vats and i dont see what was so bad about it.
Hopefully they will handle the fallout series similarly to how GTA was, where we get 3 games in different locations around the country before the next numeric iteration is released.
Other than that, I'd say make the world a bit more "perpetual" than it was. It would be nice to feel like you live there rather than just passing by.
More radio stations that have a different variety of music. Doesn't have to be modern stuff, just more music and more stations would be nice.

A lot of the fun I had in Fallout 3 was exploring dystopic DC, seeing the sights, something I'll probably do in this Vegas version as well. The more I think about it, I really could enjoy exploring all of the hotels. I'm sure they won't get the rights to all of them, but I at least hope they mimic all of the major attractions on the strip. I wonder what a raider wedding chapel might look like...
"Pibo47 said:Dated yes, but so has Diablo II. And that game is still great. Fallout should never have been a fps. I love fallout 3, but i want the old fallout back. TBH i really would just like TES5...but this will have to do."A) A fallout game.B) Actually give us some more quests than...32 i think...C) a real fallout game."You seriously want a new Fallout game made Interplay style? Come on. That gameplay method has become pretty dated over the years."
VATS was cool. what's your prob peeps. FO 3 was not a FPS with rpg elements. In fact, there is no reason an FPS cannot be an RPG. Role playing is just that, you have a single character who you can modify with stats (even that is a fairly strict definition.) The term first person shooter doesn't infringe on Role Playing Game in any manner. The combat doesn't have to be turn based or clickety clickety clikety to be be an RPG (X-men Legends, Kingdom Hearts). FPSRPG could be its own subgenre. However, I wouldn't call Fallout 3 a strict FPS in any case. Vats added a turn based system and I dug it. It was a good system.
We should be asking for improvements on that system. I want things like targed melee and better rewards for targeting limbs. Enemies that don't just pick up their weapon again and shoot you as if you hadn't just blown their weapon out of their grasp. Weapon breakage and better crippling effect would be cool. Also... maybe dismemberment doesn't necessarily mean death? you could have a raider crawl towards you after you blow his leg off. Maybe VATS executions and finishing animations for enemies with low health? Dunno about that last part, it could be really wonky.
As for the quests, Fallout's quests were WAAAAY better than Oblivion's. Simple fetching and dungeon clearing quests are played out. I really dug the branching, moral dillema quests in Fallout 3. Maybe dump a bunch of the fetch and clear the dungeon type quests on top of the 32 more complex ones.
BTW - slot machine gun? brilliant. It wouldn't be that hard to make it make sense in vegas. You could get the schematic from a guy obssessed with lady luck. Three lightening bolts means electrical damage. Three Snowflakes means ice damage? cool. Maybe there is a cult who worships the raw power of chance. Like rolls dice in order to determine if they have you kill somebody. Any maybe they are in charge of the guards in that area. You could need to kill somebody and you bring their name to this group. They roll the dice and decide if they are going to let you kill that person. It could actually be random.
Man, people bash Fallout 3 so much. It's an amazing game, quit whinning that it doesn't meet your precious Fallout/Fallout 2 standards, jeez. Anyway, I hope for more settlements, keep VAT'S, more stuff to do, and a higher level cap. Yeah, that's about it.
I don't want the shooting to suck, a good third-person view, and I want the movement to actually look fluid. ... [more]

I want them to improve some of the flaws of Fallout 3, and then just make another huge map to explore. Basically, this:
I want Fallout 3 in Vegas with less bugs.
I'd like to see the shooting mechanics tightened up a little bit, along with more dynamic dialogue options and more detailed animations. I think there's a lot of potential here and definitely something to be excited about. Hopefully, having some of the original team can help them seamlessly bring the atmosphere along while ironing out all the kinks that got in the way of Fallout 3.
I would love to see a chip shooting gun! The Ghoul Casino sounds cool! Or Ghoul shows like the ones they have in Vegas, Cirque de Ghoule anyone?

I hope it's every bit as good as Fallout 3, or better, and that people who hated Fallout 3, hate it. too. That way, it's bound to be a great game, I'll love.
