Fallout: New Vegas has a bug or two. There are crash bugs, animation bugs, scripting bugs, and even bugs that make dogs moonwalk. But while the game has issues, it's important to note that it's still a really good game. It's just, you know, buggy and will often test your ability to ignore flaw.

This will change with time. Speaking with us this morning, Bethesda PR man Pete Hines confirmed that Bethesda is working on patches and updates for all three versions of the game. Specific announcements about these patches are coming, too.

"We are currently working on releasing patches/updates as quickly as possible for Fallout: New Vegas, for all platforms," Hines said via e-mail. "Announcements regarding the patches are forthcoming."

== TEASER ==Numerous bug videos are hitting YouTube at the moment, as players are actively uploading their favorites. I'm partial to the moonwalking dog video, but The Exorcist rotating-head vid is pretty rad as well. What a way to welcome someone in the game, eh? Anyway, I've embedded these clips just below if you'd like to take a gander. I suppose you could also try to experience hitches yourselves in our own copies of the game, but you better do it fast.

Boom...still haven't finished 3 yet though.

#3 Posted by CaptainObvious (2981 posts) -

I want them to keep the moonwalking dog.

#4 Posted by EgoCheck616 (782 posts) -

Yea, forget delaying the game just a little bit so that our money goes towards the full experience.
Instead, give us some broken code and promise us a patch "at a later date".

I guarantee you there will be a PC mod that fixes these issues before Bethesda does.

I also need to finish Fallout 3.

#6 Posted by Mrnitropb (2090 posts) -

What do you mean? I've only experienced one restart-forcing glitch so far?

#7 Edited by dudewhaa (41 posts) -

I thought when xbox certifies a game they test for this kind of stuff? I think its pretty awful that Bethesda knows these bugs are there from launch and as soon as the game comes out they acknowledge it.

Also the rotating head thing is HILARIOUS especially as that is like the first thing you  see when your character wakes up.

Severe LOL at the possessed NPC.

The rotating head clip is gold!

awww that moonwalking dog glitch is the best

#11 Posted by gamer812 (43 posts) -

The rotating head is hilarious.

#12 Posted by anbumakura (151 posts) -

That rotating head glitch is pretty awesome, I have to say.

#13 Posted by DukeTogo (1505 posts) -

Jesus Christ that head one is creepy.

#14 Posted by Rasgueado (702 posts) -

Well good! It's nice to know that they're planning on fixing issues with their clearly busted up game. Having the frame rate drop from 65-7fps every time I buy something on a core i7 rig is a bit ridiculous.

That's still better than waiting weeks or even months to announce a patch. While I personally haven't had any problems with the game yet, I'd like to be able to stop worrying about what might happen as soon as possible.

That rotating head video is fucking hilarious, by the way. Also kind of disturbing....
#16 Posted by Cybexx (1099 posts) -

I'm pretty sure moonwalking dog needs to be a feature

#17 Posted by zegolf (224 posts) -

That was quick...

#18 Posted by Th3_James (2575 posts) -

In my game once i set animals on fire and they die, they stay lit forever. I don't want them to take that out

#19 Posted by Oishi_47 (21 posts) -

At best, this article is making a poor case for the need of any patch. I understand that there are some really bad bugs that cause roadblocks to gameplay, but the videos are awesome.

@DukeTogo: You got that right... really creepy, especially if you're feeling sleepy. Woke me right up!!!!
#21 Posted by Boots33 (2 posts) -

Just a thought, but remember when games used to actually be finished when they were released?  I'm starting to feel like we should be refunded $10 if a game has to be patched within he frst week.

That Doc sounds like Michael Hogan, OMGOMGOMG!!!!

I NEED THIS GAME NOW!!!

@dudewhaa: Certified only means "good enough to patch later".  This goes for both PS3 and 360
#24 Posted by MrPilkington (722 posts) -

Yeah, that sounds like something they'd be doin........wait a minute, that was mean

That rotating head video reminded me of those "Possessed" Majora's Mask ones. Effing creepy. http://hfbroads.com/threads/21948-The-possessed-Majora-s-Mask-Cartridge

Edit: Also odd that the link I found for those videos in Google is HockeyBroads.com? What the..?

#26 Posted by Milkman (16223 posts) -

Maybe I'll wait until these patches hit to get the game then.

#27 Posted by VicRattlehead (1397 posts) -

LOL that rotating head video is hilarious

#28 Posted by Wetzilla (2 posts) -

I think I'll wait to play this until the patch comes out, hopefully it'll be quick for PC.

#29 Posted by omgmetalgear (141 posts) -

I'm stoked to play this, but I don't understand why they released this obviously glitchy game when it clearly needed fixing up. I mean, did they even hire game testers??

#30 Posted by SeanFoster (835 posts) -

A lot of these can be explained by the nuclear radiation.

#31 Posted by Alphazero (1530 posts) -

Linear algebra can be hard. Get it wrong, and the matrix you use to specify head orientation and flip the fuck out.

Or maybe it's peyote I'm thinking of.

#32 Posted by ArtelinaRose (1783 posts) -

oh jesus FUCKING CHRIST

why would you post the rolling head video

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT

Never sleeping again.

#33 Posted by Sooty (8082 posts) -

They should do more QA on their products. Did they not play their game at all to notice these bugs pre-release? Lazy motherfuckers.

#34 Edited by gbrading (1925 posts) -

Well obviously patches are coming, and I'm glad they're on the ball. It's just a shame the game shipped in a broken state.

P.S. The rolling head video is hilarious and I kind of want that in the game. (Not really, but still fun).
#35 Posted by lolwot (254 posts) -

Instead of removing the moonwalking dog, they should add a moonwalking dog side quest.

#36 Posted by MadeinFinland (839 posts) -

lol, love the Exorcist

#37 Posted by AndyPhifer (163 posts) -

The moonwalking dog isn't a glitch. That's a feature.
#38 Posted by DrBobUK (54 posts) -

I predict an unofficial fan patch for this game.

Before New Vegas, there was Oblivion and Fallout 3.

When will Bethesda hire competent playtesters?

#39 Posted by Nicky92 (76 posts) -

It's good that there creating a update fix. They care about the game and peoples views of the game's issues.

#40 Posted by Galiant (2163 posts) -

Yay!

#41 Edited by Juno_Loire (26 posts) -

Fact is that games should'nt be broken out-of-box. Just another price we pay for long-term solutions; lazy developing and bugtesting because launch-week patches are more cost effective. Hargarbl.

The head roll video is amazing.

#43 Posted by cikame (924 posts) -

I almost died watching that rotating head glitch.

I dunno, the whole vegas thing kinda puts me off, think i'll play fallout 3 again.

I highly doubt this was a problem caused by the QA department. I think the guys in the Bombcast were pretty spot on: The game runs on an engine that is jacked as hell and they know the game will sell even with those bugs ... so why not release it, take a deep breath and fix the bugs they find the most youtube videos about?
#45 Posted by gave1 (129 posts) -

the rotating head isn't a glitch.  It's a perk that reduces the chance of headshots. It will be in the next COD game.

#46 Posted by ZeroCast (1870 posts) -

Hmmm.

On second thought, I can wait until the game is fixed.

#47 Posted by sins_of_mosin (1556 posts) -

I agree, the engine is crap and needs to be replaced 100%.  They should use the Just Cause 2 engine.

#48 Posted by The_Laughing_Man (13629 posts) -

A game should not have this many bugs on release. It should be worked out in testing.

#49 Posted by FritzDude (2216 posts) -

This news makes me think why they couldn't just delay the game a week or so and fix some of the issues. Did the Q&A teaam sleep in the whole process?

@cikame: You'd be missing out. It's a terrific game. /:
