So Benny has fled the Tops casino and I am at the point where I have just finished talking to the "Yes Man" robot in Benny's room, who told me that Benny was probably headed to the "Fort".

So i decided to go and retrieve the chip, because I cant really advance in any direction until I do that, upon leaving the Casino I was approached by Vulpes Inculta from Caesars Legion about going to meet Caesar at the "Fort", he then gave me the "Mark of Caesar" and ran off... I had been leaning towards an NCR alliance for most of the game so far, but I figured I could use this opportunity to get the chip from Benny.

So I travel to Cottonwood Cove, to then get on the boat that will take me to the Fort. Upon arriving at Cottonwood Cove for the first time I am warned by Boone that this is a slave camp and he will be firing on site, so I then take him back to my hotel room in Novac, leave him there, and then return to Cottonwood Cove, head down the hill towards the boat shack and find myself being fired upon by the only legion guy i see? What the hell?

So i then think "okay, ill go in wearing Legion clothing." I do that and am able to make it to the boat guy without any trouble, i arrive at the Fort and am making my way to Caesar when I accidentally bump into a legion member who immediately starts firing on me, which leads to everyone firing on me. Grrrrr!

So I then reload my save, and start making my way to Caesar again, being careful to not bump into anyone and again am immediately fired upon once I reach a certain spot!

WTF am i doing wrong? And is there an easier way to obtain the chip?

If you have Boone with you, that's the issue.

Sorry, just read the part about Boone.  That doesn't matter.  You have to say "It's time for us to part ways, Boone." and tell him to go wait in the Lucky 38.

@supaman900s:  If you tell him just to wait, it still considers him to be "in your party", you still get his perks, can't recruit new henchmen, etc.  Just do what I said, then talk to him after at the Lucky 38 and tell him to rejoin.

Did you ally yourself with NCR? Cus if you did, you're going to have to kill everyone in camp to get your chip. Your stuff is in a box right next to the camp entrance, unlock it and everyone will proceed to try and kill you. I'd bring the dog for this. You won't be able to use the infinite ammo default weapon your companions have, give them ammo and shit.

So I sent Boone back to the Lucky 38 Casino, and I am STILL being attacked by the dumb Legion members!!!!!

However, I was able to make it to Caesar and talk to him, but the dumb Legion fools just killed me as soon as I finished the conversation!! OMG this is so frustrating! I have tried wearing Legion clothing, not wearing Legion clothing, hell I even tried to make it to Caesar using a Stealth Boy and was still miraculously discovered and fired upon!

This is driving me nuts, and honestly I have enough of a backlog of other games to be sitting here trying to jerry-rig my way through this broke ass game!

My only question, is there another way to get the stupid platinum chip? Even when I have the other quests selected, they are all telling me that I need to go to Cottonwood Cove and take the stupid boat to see Caesar! There must be another way!

Hmm, that's bizarre.  I had this issue myself, kinda, but I just said "Fuck it" and went ahead and killed everyone there, killed everyone at the encampment, and killed Caesar (BTW, that is a total BITCH in that tent. and then just killed Benny.

The only way to get it is to go to the camp...

Lemme put it this way...if  you're gonna side with the NCR, you're gonna be forced to go against the legion at some point anyway.  Easiest thing at this point might be to just murder all them fools now rather than later.

    Awesome loot, too.

Uhg I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. I'm not sure I am leveled high enough to clear out that whole place. At the most, I'm only at about level 12.

I might just reload a previous save and try to kill Benny while he is still in the casino.

Ehhh scratch that. My earliest save available is right before I talked to Yes Man. WWTTFF!!
     Edit:
    @InfamousBIG:
So i tried the "enter the camp and just fuck shit up approach" and yeah um, that's def not going to work, there are way to many of them to really try to take them all out, I got past the first two parts, and I can not get past the tent you enter to speak directly to Caesar.

I have narrowed it down to the dumb worthless dogs that are blowing my cover! WTFWTFWTFWTFWTF! URGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Only thing I can think of that might work is if I try to get to the next level by doing side quests and when I do, level up and take the Animal-Fucker perk, but I don't even know if that's going to work against the legions super sensing dogs!

Yes it does. Animal Friend is one of my top perks after hitting level twelve or so. It simplifies your journey through the wasteland and saves ammo being wasted.

Also means the the pain to kill nightstalker dogs ignore you.

Alright, first get Boone to follow you then before you head out to Caesers camp, use your NCR emergency radio and call for a ranger then once that ranger comes, they will become your follower. So now you have 2 followers and go for Caesers camp
