Is the Platinum Chip essential to finishing this broken piece of crap game? Because I have come to the conclusion that im never going to be able to get it, its just impossible at my characters level to kill every Legion scumbag at the Fort. I have even brought Boone along with me and we are just outnumbered.
I read somewhere that if you take the "NCR" path, you never even need the stupid Platinum Chip? So if this is true, this is now my goal as I would love to be finished with this game and never look back. Now can someone please just tell me whats the name of the quest to get the "NCR path" started! Thanks!

Plz help me! Bout 2 quit on this broken game!
While leveling up more could help, im at level 12 i think.
The game is most definitely broken!
I'm sorry but if I'm doing everything the way it should be done, for example, I received the "mark of Caesar" from the Adrian Broody looking guy when I exited the Tops casino, which should grant me the ability to not be attacked on site while I am just walking to the quest's destination marker, being "The Fort"
I shouldn't be getting attacked while just walking by a stupid dog because I have the mark of Caesar!!!
But no, I am being attacked, because the developer probably forgot to code the "mark of Caesar" trait or whatever the hell you wanna call it into the dogs! So yeah that quest is broken, so therefor, if one of the game most essential quests is broken, then the game might as well be broken. I really hope they patch this crap soon, or someone comes up with a plausable work around, because killing all the legion at the camp is bananas!
Edit: Seriously? This has nothing to do with me not being "good at the game"... It is most definitely a problem lots of other people are experiencing as well, and I suppose they are all just not "good at the game" either right? Uhg I swear Giantbomb has some of the worst forum tools around... If your not going to help, please just dont bother posting in the thread!

"I bet you are waring a outfit from a faction that is at war with the Legion.
I have no one in my party, I was using Boone, but I told him that i think we should part ways and sent him back to the Lucky 38 casino. Also, I have tried wearing the default vault 21 jump suit as well as wearing legion armor to no avail, I get past the regular Legion members just fine, its not until I walk past one of the Legion dogs, do they become hostile towards me. It must be a glitch with the dogs, thats the only thing i can think of...

If your best bet in the fort is just murdering everyone but it's not going well leveling up or finding better gear is your best bet. I was a huge fan of the Gauss Rifle, but you will probably have to join the Brotherhood to buy one. You could also drop the difficulty to very easy, if you're trying for the hardcore trophy it won't effect it.
The NCR ending is another option since you don't need to go to the fort at all.
Level up, then murder everyone. I did it. alternatively, you could load up a previous save if you have a high speech check, go back to where you confront Benny at tops. You can convince him to go up with you, either with a speech of 75 or the perk that gives you speech options with men (depends on gender). He'll go up with you, you can just kill him and take the chip from him there.
You lost my attempt at helping you when you called this a broken piece of crap game. You're on your own.
I know you are past this point already, but the best way to go about getting the chip to me(if you are not going to take the Legion ending) is to have high enough speech to get Benny to go alone with you to his room, then kill him and take the chip. I don't remember the name of the main NCR questline, but you get it in Vegas pretty much the same way the Legion quest starts. Some guy comes up to you with a not or something asking you to go see so-and-so at the NCR embassy. On my last play through I got the chip out of the Legion camp with the game on the easiest setting and using a missile launcher....dudes die so easy then.
You never did say what story path you were going with. If you are going Mr. House, which I assume you are since you want the chip. Then you have to go to the Legion camp anyways. Just follow the Legion path and go to the place under the weather monitoring station that the Legion sends you to, then there will be a computer under there that you can use to talk to House. He'll say something about you being there ahead of schedule or something and you can proceed with his quest line and get out of the Legion camp with no hassle.
Thanks for the reply's, but I think i am just going to shelf thins game for a bit and come back to it. Just started Mass Effect 2.

" Thanks for the reply's, but I think i am just going to shelf thins game for a bit and come back to it. Just started Mass Effect 2. "Sounds like a plan to me. I always try to take breaks away from stuff when I get stuck and/or frustrated with some part of it. Also, even though I really enjoy Fallout, I don't enjoy it near as much as Mass Effect.
I don't understand why everyone's attacking this person. Text speak or not, he/she still has a legitimate problem.
I've just come across the exact same issue. I'm wearing the Mark of Caesar, and although it prevents Legion soldiers from attacking you, the dogs still spaz out. This then causes the soldiers to spaz out. I'm bordering on Level 20, and I find it just as impossible to survive the onslaught of Legion troops when they're alerted.
I'm a total fan of the game, but I'm not too proud to say that this is a big flaw/glitch. One that's currently shutting out one section of the game. The Mark of Caesar should really guarantee you immunity from the entire Legion; dogs and dudes alike. I'm now gonna have to revert to an earlier save and repeat an hour of the game, the way you guys have suggested.
I didn't have to go to the leigon camp to get the chip. I got it from Benny. You only need to go to the camp if you want to complete the Cesar quest group and side with them. Did you get the opportunity to go to the NCR embassy on the Strip? If you did go there and do those quests, and you won't even need the chip.
