So....got this today, and I'm playing it exactly the same way I played Fallout 3.....staring at the SPECIAL stats for a million years, deciding on some stuff, playing for an hour, deleting my character, re-rolling, and then doing the same again...
I can never seem to decide on what I want, and am always worried of missing out on stuff because of my mistake making the dude after ME rather than some optimised build. So...help me decide chaps, what did you roll, why, and how's it going playing as that dude?
Cheers!
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
Post your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. starting stats & perks!
I agree with zegolf, Charisma and Intelligence is what I find to be the most important for the start of the game, Intelligence gives you more skill points to put into each skill. I love using Speech to make quests easier when i don't have the science or lockpick to get into restricted areas.
I went :
Strength 5
Perception 5
Endurance 6
Charisma 5
Intelligence 7
Agility 7
Luck 5
I tagged Guns, Repair and Medicine, and took the Trigger Discipline trait.
I don't care so much about making the game easier or harder , I just pick with my gut :)
All 5's except Charisma, Intelligence and Agility, 7, 7, and 6, respectively.
They don't actually make all that much difference so don't worry too much, it's the individual stat boosts you give yourself after each level up that really make the most difference. Early in the game though, I find that the enemies and stuff aren't exactly a problem and you find so much ammo and health that survivability isn't much of an issue, so speech, science, barter, sneaking, repair, those sort of skills come in most handy at the beginning of the game imo.
" S 6 P 9 E 5 C 1 I 1 A 9 L 9 Guns, Sneak, Repair. Built to Destory + Trigger Discipline. Agility, Luck, Perception Implants (taking them all to 10). Crit sniper build. Makes tough early game if you don't get the drop on them, but it's alot of fun one shotting everything thing. "Wow really, 1 Int? I always thought of Int to be an really important thing; it takes way longer to increase Skills with such a low Intelligence.
That is exactly what I picked as well. Seems to be working out well, although small guns (or in this case "guns") don't seem as powerful as they did in Fallout 3. Maybe I just haven't found the good ones yet." Maybe I just haven't found the right guns but... I mean... I should at least harm them.
Strength 5
Perception 5
Endurance 5
Charisma 10
Intelligence 10
Agility 5
Luck 1
I then used the console to bring my luck stat up to 10 like I did in Fallout 3. You might call it cheating, but I don't think it breaks the game in a big way. I just want to have fun.
I tagged Science, Speech and Lockpick. I went for the Good guy and weird wasteland traits.
" @Vorbis said:For my build I only need to max Sneak, Guns and Repair, with Survivial on 30. So Int isn't needed as I'll max those easily. I'll take full Int for my jack of all trades playthrough, but I'm playing on Very Hard and I would just get destroyed if I didn't focus on specific stats." S 6 P 9 E 5 C 1 I 1 A 9 L 9 Guns, Sneak, Repair. Built to Destory + Trigger Discipline. Agility, Luck, Perception Implants (taking them all to 10). Crit sniper build. Beginning stats:
Strength 4
Perception 6
Endurance 6
Charisma 4
Intelligence 7
Agility 7
Luck 6
I tagged Guns, Repair and Survival, and took the Trigger Discipline and Good Natured traits. On level 2 I choose Intense Training to get my Strength up to 5. Throw a hat on and Perception goes to 7.
2 - Intense Training (STR)
4 - Educated
6 - Comprehension
8 - Strong Back
10 - Finese
12 - Sniper
So, I'm on level 12 now, and I'm basically scouring the wasteland for skill books.
What's the deal with implants??? I'm not really using any guides or anything. I was going to ask if there are any equivalents of booble heads in this game?
