Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
This game is $10 at Best Buy!
I bought it for $20 and don't regret it. I would definitely buy it for that price but even when it was $20 the game is buggy as they come. I didn't like it as much as 3 but it is still a fairly good game.
Might as well dig out a Best buy gift card. Wait, I just realized something: I only have $9.96 on that card, and that's not even close to enough.
I saw that it was going to be $10 over the weekend, and that is a great deal for those who are itching for some Fallout. But honestly, if you can wait a little longer it might be worth it to see if Bethesda puts out a GOTY edition. They have done it in the past for a lot of their major RPGs, especially those with a lot of DLC, so I would think they would do it with New Vegas as well.
Brutal Legend is also part of the sale. At $5 there's no reason not to buy it if you haven't played it yet and the game sounds at all interesting to you. I picked up NV as soon as I saw the sale today. I had $20 in credit and I already own the DLC. It was a no brainer for me.All right, now I'm pissed. I just went to Best Buy today to pick up RE5 and I saw Brutal Legends and they had it priced at $20 in the store. I have been thinking about picking that game up, but I just have so many other games that I havent played. At $5 I definitely would have bought it. Does anyone know how long the sale is going on for? If it is going on later this week I will probably stop buy and pick Brutal Legends up.
@louiedog said:I'm not sure. If part of their Sunday ad, then it goes until the 9th. If it's part of their 4th of July sale it's only today and tomorrow. You can always buy online and pick it up in-store. They'll hold it for 8 days. That's what I'm doing. I bought it online and won't be picking it up until Tuesday.Brutal Legend is also part of the sale. @shinigami420: I think terrible is a strong word. It's glitchy as hell but not terrible.
It looks terrible
the gameplay is terrible
the only good thing about it is the story
if the only thing you want is a good story then watch a fucking movie or anime or read a book
Dude, I think you're being a little too critical here. The game has some serious issues (i.e.: technical problems, dated visuals, lackluster shooting) but it shouldn't be discarded so hastily. This is the sequel to Fallout 3, and all of what made that game great is still present. The shooting remains to be mildly disappointing, but this is remedied easily by how prevalent the V.A.T.S. system is - you'll rarely ever have to shoot an enemy without using it. The two biggest problems here are the glitches and visuals. The visuals might seem weak when taken out of context, but if you look at the grander picture - massive environments with hundreds(?) of interactive characters and quests all unique from each other - you sort of forget about the muddy textures and pop-in. The glitches are a serious problem, and while a portion of them have been addressed through patches they are still ever-present. However at $10 I think that most people could forgive having to restart their game four or five times through their playthrough, especially considering how enjoyable the rest of the game can be.@Yorick said:

If you hated Fallout 3, avoid this game - fucking obviously. If you enjoyed Fallout 3 - and a lot of people did - and you don't mind a marginally glitchier experience, then pick this up. Now.
Might as well dig out a Best buy gift card. Wait, I just realized something: I only have $9.96 on that card, and that's not even close to enough. You could just bring a buck with you.
I'm too lazy to go to an actual Best Buy. Besides, did you hear what Ryan had to say about such a thing?
@Video_Game_King: I hear you. Frankly I walked in after going to Dick's for some tennis gear. My whole intention was to check out the 3dTV demos, because I'm in the market for one. Walked over to the games when I spotted the deal. Also, the 3DS did not impress me. The only game I played was that plane one where you take a picture of your face and aim around the room shooting at shit. You gotta get that thing at the precisely the right position to get the 3D to work right.
I bought it a month ago for $20. Liking it way more than F3, it's really worth it. And the DLC looks really cool, but I'm not there yet.
I went through the entire game and only experienced one glitch. But that was after the multiple patches. So to me, it's worth the full 60 bucks, let alone a measly $10. Jump on this deal.

It's worth it for $10.the game isn't that bad :p
Yes, in fact, Steam is its form of DRM. You pretty much have to activate it on Steam. Can you activate the PC version on steam?
I can't speak for the console versions of of the game, but I bought it for PC at launch and feel got my money's worth.
It was somewhat glitchy then, but the majority of that has been fixed at this point.
In my opinion New Vegas is the superior game in many ways. There are more storyline options, choices, weapons, the enemies are far superior, and that good ol' Fallout spirit and feel of the original Fallout 1&2 is captured with much better results in New Vegas.
Fallout 3 just gets more props because the game engine (bugs included) and revived fallout setting was fresh at its time of release so more was forgiven by the reviewers.
While its true Obsidian should have revamped and refined the game engine for New Vegas more than they did. (The true reason behind most of the apathy apparent in reviews when it was released.)
Despite that, Obsidian did craft a damn good game.
