Hello friends,  I'm using energy weapons so I have a lightning symbol next to my weapon.  There's a number next that symbol, what does that number mean?     
 
Follow up questions:  Where is my enemy's DT rating in V.A.T.S.?  Does the broken shield in red next to his HP signify I'm getting past his DT?

The number on weapons is the skill level needed to use it effectively. You need a special perk to see enemy dt levels in vats. Broken sheild mean dt has been negated
