What would you like to see?
I would like to see finishing moves with guns. If you lower an enemy's health low enough you can run up to them with your weapon and blow their brains out in a violent Fallout way. Although I think this should be reserved for the Bloody Mess perk. Similar to the Red Dead style that initiates a 1 second clip of the kill.
Another feature I would like to see is dual wielding weapons. Things like pistols, small SMGs, and one handed melee weapons. Which would also feature violent finishing moves. Of course these weapons would be inaccurate so it would be best to reserve them for close quarters combat.
Sorry if I sound sadist right now, but I love the way people's head explode in Fallout...
I don't want the interface to change though. I don't want to look up at an apocalyptic sky to level my character and look at my stats. All that shit stays on my pib-boy, but a newer model for the pib-boy would be nice, since in Fallout 3 all the other kids received new models.
Fallout
The Fallout franchise is a post-apocalyptic series of role-playing and tactics games originally developed by Black Isle, and most recently, Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian Entertainment.
How do you think Skyrim's new engine will affect the next Fallout
Come on now, who knows, Bethesda may go back to their roots, creating amazing storylines, like in the days of Morrowind...A gamer can dream, a gamer can dream.I don't really care since it's a given that it'll be Bethesda who will work on the next fallout :(
I absolutely loved Fallout 3. I played it a ton and bought several of the DLC expansions. I was super excited for New Vegas, but ended up trading it in after about 15 hours of gameplay. I just couldn't get into it.
That being said, I'm not sure what I would want in a new engine-esque Fallout. I think I may be suffering from Fallout burnout.
Make it isometric and turn-based!
No, but really, those first two games were great.
Don't really know what I would want from a new Fallout at this point. I actually don't know if I want a new Fallout at all...
It needs more convincing populated areas. As much as I loved both the recent fallouts I had real trouble suspending my disbelief during the sections in the casinos and when the president turned up at the end. These were supposed to be really busy, buzzing areas and they just looked dead and underpopulated.

I agree. Cities didn't feel like cities in Fallout 3 or New vegas.
I wouldn't have minded another game in the BYOND engine, because I played on PC I had almost no issues and had a ton of fun. Its a shame consoles had so much trouble, hopefully this new engine is better for everyone.
Keep VATS while improving the general gameplay. Make discussions more dynamic à la ME 2. And make the game cleanerSounds about right. But rather than the dynamics of ME 2 discussions i would rather see something in the lines of what they did in Dragon Age Origins. I really loved how that conversation system worked, it wasn't just black and white choices, you actually had the grey area as well.
And yes for the love of Satan, clean up the game. Make it interesting to look at, i know that is asking too much it is a post apocalyptic wasteland after all, but still.

I'm hoping this new engine brings about more gameplay option, like dual-wielding as Twitchey said. The way the engine animated people is definitely an improvement, so I hope new areas look and feel more natural. Less load times in cities, as well, so it feels like a connected area. And I wouldn't mind if Bethesda decided to expand on the weapon mod system that New Vegas had.
With that being said, I don't want a new Fallout just yet. I played FO3 for about a hundred hours, and I'm approaching that mark with NV. I can wait another 3-5 years, just to make sure it feels fresh.
I'd like to see the companion limit increased to at least 3 and i'd also like them to implement a team VATS feature that'll allow you to que up attacks from each of your party members, also weapon switching via VATS would be a welcome feature. More fluid combat is also a must, I know thats always been a weak point of Bethesda but maby now their bunked up with ID things might change. My final request would be no more invisable walls.. I know all games have them to some extent but there were way too many in Fallout 3. If you dont want a player to reach an area make it impossible to get too, instead of just slapping an IW there. As far as the new engine goes.. The only thing it seems to have over the old one is better animations and draw distance, so that too please ;)
For a new game I would want Bethesda to come up with a new ip. Elder Scrolls is from 1994 and Fallout is from 1997, we need something new. I mean Elder Scrolls is fine since the different games at least look different, but Fallout is all the same and it just gets stale.
All I want to see is better graphics, a better story, a better interface, better voice acting, and a new and interesting location. Good enough to break up the monotony of two very same-ish games with a ton of DLC. Probably with a good wait to build up anticipation. I'm just now playing New Vegas.
I hope they make real-time gunplay more satisfying and more akin to modern day shooters. Having said that, the RPG aspect of the game shouldn't be diminished in importance as well, because that is a huge part of the game.
This happened when the game was released and happened again in February for me (Xbox). Someone posted a thread a few days ago about their save corruption, so I guess it's still going on.@Axxol: When exactly did this happen, was it recent? Most importantly, was it on PC?

@Axxol said:I'm no longer concerned with Fallout after going through save corruptions in New Vegas.New Vegas was a nightmare, left a bad taste. At least the next Fallout may not be made by the folks that made NV.
and that is the biggest shame of all, because obsidian can actually write a good story & good characters (unlike bethesda)
More original setting. I get that Fallout's all about the Americana feel, but surely you can do better than Midwest-California-Washington-California.
Like, an Alaskan campaign, a proper one, not that Anchorage bullshit, with all the trappings of Chinese and American occupation.
Or, I was discussing this with a friend, a New Orleans campaign with, like, Zydeco ghouls or something.
