Do You Enjoy FC2 Multiplayer?

So how do ya like it? Are there any really good or bad mechanics people should know about? And lastly, Have you encountered any cool player made maps yet? Feel free to describe any or all of these questions, it would be most appreciated. =)

I haven't seen too many reviews focus on the multilayer in any real detail and I've been curios to hear more about it.

its not great to me. i don't like player made maps (or from the ones i see) really this is a story mode game...

I'm liking it a lot, actually. I think it's pretty great. Things that need to be changed are the auto-aim, which still messes you up even after you turn it off, and the respawn times. They are occaisionally upwards of 20 seconds, counting little death-cams, and it's very annoying. Other than that, I think it's pretty good. No one class has a supreme advantage over the other, the maps (both official and player designed, if you get the top rated/most popular ones) are all pretty good to great depending on the map. I've played on quite a few interesting player made maps. It's fun to see how people utilize the tools.

Definitely not true.

I have enjoyed it so far. I like that it is possible to be "revived" if you're not 100% dead and it ran smooth for me. I'm not really sure if this game will have decent audience a few months down the line though...or after Gears 2 comes out.

I agree 100% with that. The respawn times can last way too long at times...especially if you last the entire time waiting to get revived, then die and have to wait another 10 seconds. That isn't any fun at all.

Try waiting for 20 seconds to be revived and getting a 20 second respawn time. It can be bullshit. Lots of times its under 10 seconds though. It should never really go above 10.

I figured not everyone would be into the multilayer for one reasons or another. That's OK. I'm still eager to try it out myself...

Edit:
Thanks for the feedback so far guys. It's nice to hear player impressions before you pickup a game.

Damn, I don't think I ever had to wait 20 seconds after not getting revived...I did get massively pissed a few times when my teammates were standing right by my body and decided not to revive me. That was kinda douchey.

Once the community and mappers truly master the map making feature, then we will see some really exciting maps which will gather their own fans and dedicated players.

Yeah, there were some really talented guys on the original Farcry.

I've been downloading and testing out ones that look interesting. There are great maps up already from users. Also, the fact that you can find maps from other games pouring in (not the best remakes, but still) as free content is hilarious. I played a pretty fun Overgrown version tonight.

Awesome : )
I was never a huge fan of remade maps in FCI, but I'm willing to give some new ones in FC2 a shot.

I just wish I had some free time to play the game. Stupid school work wasting all my time...Why do I have to learn how to read? ಠ_

I've made one map...it's on the community, 2Oasis. I'm not sure that the current version is the final version but it isn't too bad, I got to kind of test it 1v1 with a random. I think everybody's busy playing single player or ranked right now so custom maps are kind of getting shafted. I'm Deltigre on Ubi.com/in-game

EDIT: holy shit is the no-join-in-progress for ranked annoying. I need to hack the dedi server or something to allow JIP and ranked.

i like FC2 multiplayer, its alot of fun, but im getting severely annoyed by all the Sniper Wars. Ive seen like 2 other people use different weapons, like the Grenade Launcher or LMG. But its mostly the Dragonuv and .50 .

#20 Posted by Raiden36O (123 posts) -

its okay, my friends and i enjoyed it for a few days before it got boring and repetitive. My main issues with it are hit detection issues when someone is running side on to you, the fact that there are only really a few decent weapons (Para, AR-16, and 50 cal) which results in the combat becoming repetitive, and major lock on auto aim.

My biggest problem with the game though (I play on the 360 version) is that the guns don't feel solid and good to shoot, i cant quite figure out what it is, i think it might be the lack of vibration in the controller when you shoot but something just makes the weapons feel weak compared to other shooters like rainbow six or cod4.

The detail that bugs me most about the multiplayer in Far Cry 2 is the messages that keep popping up in the middle of the screen during the action. Having to constantly fiddle about with the voting system during a match is very irritating. The gameplay experience is average, there is nothing really groundbreaking here, it is pretty much what you'd expect from a multiplayer option in a single player focussed game. It is a solid mode but nothing to get all that excited about. I haven't played with he map editor yet or downloaded any maps, perhaps that side of the game really sets it apart.

I have really been sucked into this game. The online does have its problems but it says alot when i put down Cod4 and World at War for the past 5 months and have only played FC2. The map editor is really addicting and fun.  Let your imagination take the reigns and build something that will blow everyones minds. The weapon system is a little screwed up, i hate it when there is a guy right next to you and he isnt even looking in your direction and he can kill you.. dosent happen alot but it pisses me off when it does.. I dont think you can judge the online aspect of the game if you havent downloaded any user maps by the way.. The repeditiveness of the maps on COD4 got to me.. after a few months of playing everyone knows every corner of the game inside and out.. The ability to make your own maps makes it VERY unrepeditive.. Until i made all of my maps ( I have about 12-13 now)  I never played the same map more than once.. The fact that people can rate your maps and it has a counter for everyone that downloads your map is awesome, This way you know how your maps are being enjoyed by everyone else that plays. The maps ARE getting better for PS3.. (thats what i play).. and even though mine havent quite blown up yet, i already have almost 1000 downloads on a few of my maps. FC3 has some of the best physics out there right now for gaming consols and for me its big when i play online. I didnt like it when you play an online match on almost all 1st person shooters and 3 frags go off around you and everything is still in pristine condition.. thats lame. Trust me if you give FC2 a chance you will be playing it for quite some time.
If you want to check me out on youtube i have some videos on there of the maps I made just look up TimCOD4.. my PSN name is Garyridgway but you will have to look up iNeedThePinkMist to find my maps i think. ( by the way.. another bug for FC2 you cant host maps if you have 16 characters in your name..boooo)

I have the game, but never touched the multiplayer in it, just seemed like a tacked on thing i had no interest in playing.

It wasn't the best.  I played it for the achievements and then stopped immediately after; their was a certain janky feel to it, like the animations weren't quite as fluid as they should of been.  It was pretty cool setting the level ablaze and fighting in that type of enviromnent, though.
