    Far Cry 2

Game » consists of 16 releases. Released Oct 21, 2008

The sequel to the original Far Cry dispenses with Jack Carver, and moves the action to a war-consumed Africa complete with an open-ended storyline involving civil war, several hours of missions, heated gunplay, and a slew of dynamic elements powered by a new engine.

Does Carver still get cool powers?

I saw a commercial of this and it didn't highlight the powers at all. They're still in the game, right?

It's not Carver, and there are no Predator powers or anything like that.

I remember good times with Predator mode in Far Cry, but other than that, I'm all for a more realistic game.

But now there's nothing Far Cry about it. It's just some same ol' thing now.

I think Far Cry could still have been a really good game even if it hadn't had the predator powers. It was still a really well put together shooter.

True, but the instinct and speed stuff was really cool.

There is nothing same or old about it, this game is going to be crazy. I'm happy it's an open-ended FPS that is actually grounded in reality.

If you could fight Dutch and the boys, that would be a game worth playing.

Wait, there's no powers? Why is this shit called farcry then? FarCry was all about the awesome powers you had.

"Far Cry", to me, isn't about Predator powers and all that shit.  It's about the open-ended experience, the level of detail to the environment surrounding you and how you can interact with it, and difficulty.

    This.

Because they're a gimmick? The Far Cry you're looking for is called Crysis.

they took them out becuase they wanted a more realistic game, and it sounds like this one has a pretty dark, realistic story. im totally stoked for it strangely more than fallout 3

The point is that you shouldn't be upset about this. Far Cry 2 is a far cry (c wut i did thar?) away from Far Cry. They are different games, for the better. Have you not seen any footage of FC2? If so I doubt you would complain any longer. This is shaping up to be what looks like, in my opinion, one of the greatest games of all time. There is no correlation between FC and FC2. Carver isn't in the game, this is taking place in Africa. You're a merc stricken with malaria who needs to kill the warlord of a country ripped apart by civil war.

Check some videos, you'll fall in love.

This brings up the question of why they call it Far Cry. I saw some videos and I think it'll be a lot of fun, but it isn't Far Cry.

Far Cry isn't Carver, it is the nature of the gameplay. Far Cry refers to a  "Far Cry" away from civilization, a far cry away from the ordinary. It's the open ended nature and the immersion that it brings. This game is going to rock my socks off.
