If I didn't like the first Far Cry will I like Far Cry 2?

I think Far Cry 2 looks cool, but I'm doubtful about getting it as I didn't like the first Far Cry? Are there enough differences between them for me to like this? I think what I didn't like about the first one was the lack of direction. I never seemed to be able to find where I was supposed to go to next. Is this any better in Far Cry 2?

They are different games entirely.  They are sequels only by name.

In terms of not knowing where to go or what to do next, FC2 marks your objectives plainly on your map.  When you finish all of your missions, it shows where you can get new ones.  So it's really a non-issue.

I would stay away from the game if I were you. For everything it does right, it does something wrong as well. While I can look over some of the bad points (and can be more tolerant), I think you might get really annoyed with the game....I think most would.

I wouldn't bother. The A.I is brutal, I'm currently playing on hardcore and everytime time turn a corner, you got these jeeps driving up your ass. Haven't tried online yet, seeing as the servers have been down for the past few hours.

It definitely has a lot of things that can annoy people in it, even though I'm really enjoying it.....its hard to say something like "if you like FPS games you will like this one" because there really hasn't been any like this before. As far as the FC1-2 though,  they are pretty different games entirely, and not related in any way besides the machete and hand glider remaining from Fc1. I would say give it a judge call as to if you want to try it or not.

It's not awful by any means...it just has some bad design choices.

I wouldn't say its awful, just there's lots bugs, respawning enemies, seriously Ubi?

But yeah, not worth the full price.
