I've been hearing mixed reactions towards this game; some found it a intense and immerssive experiance while others say it's boring and repetitive.

So how is this game; buy, rental, or a skip?

If you ask me, it's definitely not worth the torture and frustration it will bring you.

Rent.  Personally I was a big fan of the game and could tolerate the negative aspects.  It truly is one of those love/hate type of games, kind of like Assassins Creed which was made by the same developer.

If anything rent it, it's repetitive, even if people say it's fun, it's still repetition, some people are just more tolerable than others.

My opinion of the game is that it just sends you back and forth back and forth, literally the whole game, you'll get a quest to assassinate someone from a phone, then you'll have to drive to the other side of the map (Or take the bus) do that, then get another quest, then drive to the other side of the map rinse repeat.
I never completed it, and I think I got about 17% in and was done with it. Also the guns aren't really all that fun to shoot.

Damn i must be one of the few people who actually had fun with this game. Sure it gets repetitive at some point. But i still had fun playing it, there is a lot of value in it. If you aim to complete every side mission and main missions, this game will last you a long time.

Rent or skip.  The game looks and feels amazing to start but after a few hours the gameplay really lets it down.  I got about 60% completion on it before i gave in.

It's a great game with solid gunplay mechanics. It did some decently revolutionary and evolutionary stuff with the fire mechanics, the open world FPS, and the immersive qualities of the game. If I could find it for 20 bucks or less, I'd probably buy. Elsewise, a rental is a good call. Too bad the multiplayer wasn't used as much as it should've been. It has a really spectacular map creator with it.

Edit: Now I remember what turned me off to the game: the enemies are really fucking strong. It's actually really hard to get used to dumping 8-10 bullets into each bad guy to bring them down. If the damage was treated more like Rainbow Six, it would be a much more pleasant experience.

It's worth a rent, but it has enough serious problems that make it immensely frustrating, like the fact that you have to drive everywhere, and you get attacked by enemies every 5 minutes. I eventually just ran out of patience.

Its definitely worth trying, give it a rent maybe, but the whole game can be very cumbersome and frustrating at times. There's definitely some great stuff in there that's worth trying, but you're gonna have to get past some really frustrating stuff and bad design (like not going through a checkpoint without getting attacked).

    Good game, many flaws.

A great game, but becomes repetative fairly quickly. If you're not sure, rent it/

Man, I'm surprised at all the hate on this game. I think it's too involved and protracted to be a 'good rental' - I usually think games you can finish in a few days are choice candidates for this. If you're going to rent it, just use the time to test the waters instead of gearing up for the actual game as a whole. I'd personally say buy it based on my own experience. I can, however, see how it is an acquired taste. Just know that if you're not prepared to drive everywhere while trying to traverse a healthily large map, then you're probably going to think this game is too much of a slog.

I don't mind the fact that you get attacked frequently. I mean, what's the difference between that and a normal FPS? Just because it's open world doesn't mean that the action can't be relentless. I think the positive aspects of what this game is trying to achieve far outweigh any of the flaws it displays. Either via rental or purchase, it's a game you have to at least experience.

Rent it, so at least if you don't end up liking it, you only spend a few bucks.

Depends on your tolerance for dodgy game mechanics.  For me, the good moments more than made up for the frustrating parts.

    Pro-tip 1: Travel by river.

Pro-tip 2:  Get the Blooper ASAP.

You either love it or hate it.
If you like sniping or some crazy ass killing this is for you.
If you like Assult rifles and shottys its ok, just not as good.

The different ways you can fight battles ARE amazing however as the game telly you to do something but dosent say how you need to assasinate someone or destroy that box. You coul run them over, snipe them, machette them :)  and so much more.
