Far Cry 3

Game » consists of 10 releases. First released on Nov 29, 2012

The third installment in the series sees a reluctant victim battling nature, pirates, and the island's insanity-inducing jungle to rescue his friends and family from an island paradise gone horribly wrong.

Possibly dumb question about the camera...

Does taking pictures with the in-game camera actually do anything, or does it just make a shutter sound?

For a second I thought it may be taking screenshots, but nope...I'm guessing it may be a function for a later mission?

At the end of each mission Professor Oak will give you points depending on how good your photos are.

@MB: From how I understand it, outside of tagging enemies both near and far and scoping out the area, taking pictures can reveal relics that will become marked on your mini map. They will glow yellow and give you a hint of where they are.

Thanks, I figured it did something. I'll keep playing around with it until something happens. Wow that sounded bad.

haha. That -did- sound bad.

Used well, the camera is pretty useful, but yeah, it is primarily there for tagging far enemies and getting hints at relic locations. :)

Ooh, it tags far enemies? *has broken mouse wheel*

@ShaggE: yeah, you might want to map the camera zoom on a different button.

So far it seems like the take picture function merely is there to make it feel a camera, maybe there is a mission where you have to take pictures of something, I haven't beaten the game yet?

I looked for that in the remap options, and I didn't see it. Maybe I missed it.

Not a huge deal, as it's not a gamebreaker, but it can be annoying sometimes.
