I will admit that I broke down and tried it for a few minutes. Then once I saw the first pop up begging me to spam friends to get anywhere in the game I said to myself "What the fuck are you doing?" I then closed that tab, made this thread, and am now typing these words.

EDIT: Ahh fuck cakes. I for got to add an "a" in between for and little in option B. I'm a terrible person...

I don't use Facebook.

#4 Posted by Mikemcn (6958 posts) -

How do i explain that to people.

#5 Posted by Zithe (1045 posts) -

Nope. Don't even have a Facebook account and I'm not about to start one now.

#6 Posted by m0rdr3d (474 posts) -

Nope.  No testicles through a grinder and all that, but no.
#7 Posted by NekuCTR (1663 posts) -

There's already a thread for this, but not in poll form. Is this typically allowed?

No
It should be. Polls make everything better. Just ask dancers or a flag.

A simple no would suffice.

Already had a farm from back in the day of it first coming out, things have changed. So I just helped out Steve by adding him and gifting him stuff.

#13 Posted by Mike76x (555 posts) -

I played Farmville when it first came out.
I already beat it.

#14 Posted by Dany (7887 posts) -

Where is the option, "No, it doesn't seem like a good game or something I'd like to devote my time to"

Did you send the Game Complete code in to Zynga and get the "I played Farmville for a long time and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" -T-shirt?

#16 Posted by Sauson (560 posts) -

I decided to try it. Not something I'm going to continue to play but it's good for what it is.

#17 Posted by JJOR64 (18911 posts) -

Nope. FarmVille is for jerks.

yeah im not putting my balls in a meat grinder....
#20 Posted by gkhan (417 posts) -

I tried it, realized how amazingly awful it was. Regret having exposed myself to such horribleness.

Also, about the balls and meat grinder thing: don't knock it till you've tried it!

#21 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8698 posts) -

I have no testicles but the first option.

I understand a lot of people here are mere sheep that follow the crew, but seriously, no, its horrible (or so I have been told/spammed to death by friend requests and shit from it).
No love for these social facebook games, they're not games, they're timesinks (unfun ones, I prefer sinking my time into a RPG).
But to each his own.

#22 Posted by Teoball (575 posts) -

No, but I do enjoy Betting the Farmville though.

We need a poll licence. People will never learn that.
#24 Posted by wwfundertaker (1396 posts) -

Hell no.

#25 Posted by Yanngc33 (4496 posts) -

hell no that game looks extremely boring

#26 Posted by PhatSeeJay (3322 posts) -

No. I have played Farmville before and I don't want to open that can of spam worms again.

#27 Posted by Branthog (7342 posts) -

No, I prefer videogames; not marketing schemes. Also, facebook is fucking retarded.

#28 Posted by Yummylee (21283 posts) -

Gotta be honest with you, I'd probably prefer to play Farmville than place my testicles anywhere near a meat-grinder. But no, I have never, and most likely never will, play Farmville.

Will most likely never try it, all Facebook games are garbage. Watching Betting the FarmVille is enough for me.

#30 Posted by Scrumdidlyumptious (1639 posts) -

No, I can't be bothered joining Facebook. But I'm loving the videos.

#31 Posted by Rumour (95 posts) -

No, but it did get me to pick up Harvest Moon.

#32 Edited by FLStyle (4590 posts) -

Don't plan on watching Betting the FarmVille, don't plan on playing FarmVille. What was Ryan thinking? It even centres around the fucking interns, it's a lose-lose situation.

#33 Posted by Just_an_other_muffin (90 posts) -

I was thinking about helping the butbarn but my girlfriend talked me out of it.

#34 Posted by Dalai (7001 posts) -

Since I haven't been on Facebook in years, I doubt it.

#35 Posted by Slaker117 (4835 posts) -

No, but it made me consider maybe trying it as to contribute a tiny bit to something GB related. But I ultimately decided against it.

#36 Posted by Hockeymask27 (3683 posts) -

I played for 1/2 an hour came back in three harvested and not touched it since.

#37 Posted by Brendan (7696 posts) -

No, although it's convinced me that people who hate that game are a little blinded by their nerd bias against Facebook and the word "social gaming" because it doesn't seem all that bad as a light MMORPG type deal. I mean, I'm not saying that people aren't allowed to hate Farmville, but the damning bias against it seems a little harsh given the footage I've seen.

@Brendan: I don't know. I didn't have any strong feelings about FarmVille before this, and now I feel like it's pretty gross. It literally seems like a game where you wait, or pay money to wait less. Granted, there is the social element that hasn't been explored yet, but that sounds like more of the same. Just instead of spending money to help things along, you advertise for them. The whole thing seems like one very clever marketing scheme that's almost a real game.
#41 Posted by JJWeatherman (14557 posts) -

Nope. In fact it's further solidified my stance to never play it. After just a few episodes, I kinda never want to see the game again. I now know exactly what I've been missing, and it's not much.

#42 Edited by kingzetta (4307 posts) -

I've never had a facebook account and Harvest Moon is billion times better.

#43 Posted by agent9149 (3 posts) -

i used to play farmville nonstop when i first had facebook it was fun and addicting till i just stopped caring

Take away all preconceptions about the differences between Farmville and a lot of other FTP MMO's, and what have you got? A pretty similar game, except that you click to farm instead of attack, and you have a screen full of farm stuff rather than fantasy creatures and goofy weapons. If you dislike the idea of micro transaction games in general then that's a different conversation, but to me the opinion against Farmville seems to be in the same grain as CoD: It's "in" with the kind of people that a proper nerd shouldn't like, and therefore Farmville is for terrible people. From what I saw from Lemon's version of events there's enough goofy stuff going on in that game that it doesn't seem lazy by design or lacking in the type of content that a game filled with that kind of stuff would have, it just has super cotton instead of rare weapon drops. I understand that there are significant differences in playstyle, but the hate I see for Farmville seems to be on a matter of principle that's not necessarily directly toward Farmville itself. I'm not into Farmville but I don't hate it in all caps on the internet like a lot of people love to.

Yeah. But more then that, it's the gamification of social relationships, and it really seems to demand a level of narcissism that I'm not capable of. The scary thing is that internet usage is steadily rising. But internet usage minus Facebook.com is steadily decreasing. People are starting to do nothing online but stare at themselves.
#46 Posted by Slaker117 (4835 posts) -
@Brendan: Fair enough, but I think most of those free to play games pretty gross as well, so at least I'm not specifically bias against FarmVille. The problem is that for FTP to work, it has too be as much about spending money or marketing as it is about being a game, and I find that is usually a pretty good way to make an annoying experience without much satisfaction.

And yeah, Internet hate is always pretty silly, no matter the object.
#47 Posted by BaneFireLord (2913 posts) -

I logged in once after the first video to see what the hell the difference was between the coins and the cash, but otherwise, no.

@Slaker117: I'm with you on all that. Farmville does seem like a disgusting money machine. You pay... to look at nothing happening. You pay them for the privilege of waiting for upwards of 24 hours. How did this all get so crazy?

I've never liked a FTP game I've tried either, so I'm not a fan of Farmville for probably the same reasons that you aren't. I find them all pretty boring to be honest.
