Don't be afraid of change 14

Allow me to start this review with a disclaimer: I am not a hardcore fangirl for either Monolith or the FEAR series in general. I played both FEAR 1 and 2 and found them to be quite good, but I don't hold them up on a pedestal like many people seem to do.With that out of the way let's talk about FEAR 3 (I am NOT calling it F3AR, sorry :) ). Now, I had zero expectations going into this game. I had seen some of the trailers a while back and thought they looked interesting, especially the ones cove...

Multiplayer Makes Up For the Disappointing Campaign 6

F.E.A.R 3, the latest in the F.E.A.R series, is the first game in the trilogy to be made by a studio other than Monolith. While the two previous games offered genuine scares and exciting minute-to-minute action, F.E.A.R 3 disappoints by offering little to no terrifying moments and standard gunplay. It feels like a game trying to imitate the series instead of one that’s a part of it. The cooperative multiplayer makes up for this some by providing interesting modes that are a lot of fun, but F.E.A...

A must play for everyone who loves clever and fun gunfights in a scary and depressing atmosphere. Better than Crysis 2. 0

Disclaimer: this review contains comparisons with Crysis 2. If you don't feel like reading how bad your favorite game is, just skip it :)Let's first say that unlike what you may read on certain reviews, this game is scary as hell. The atmosphere is dark and creepy, there are a lot of dark locations, basements, old houses with spooky sounds (like footsteps on the floor above you) and blood and gore everywhere. Not sure what people miss on that front - maybe the shock scares when something jumps o...

    B.O.R.3 (SP Review) 0

This is a rather messy review for the single player – I have no friends :’( (on 360)Fear 3 is a first person shooter from day 1 studios and is the third full game in the Fear franchise as you take the brothers, Point Man and Paxton Fettel, on a final jaunt to find and deal with their mother, Alma Wade. This happened to me a lot. Those who have not played any of the previous games, such as myself, may be a little confused as to the significance of some events and the general thrust of the story. Taking the fear out of F.E.A.R. 1

What does the F.E.A.R. franchise mean to you? Does it mean creepy thrills or high octane multiplayer action? Your answer to this question will determine whether or not you will enjoy F.E.A.R. 3 (I will never, NEVER spell a word with a number) because Day 1 Studios have made a whole new kind of F.E.A.R game that may please some and revolt others. This is as scary as it gets.F.E.A.R. 3 has a pretty straightforward story despite the two games that have preceded it meaning that new comers can jump in...

    1ackluster campaign with an 3xcellent multiplayer 0

I've always had a moderate interest in the Fear franchise as I find the Alma Wade story interesting yet the blend of typical FPS with horror always felt a weird mishmash as opposed to Condemned where it fit perfectly. But still, the release of Fear 3 was met with such frustration as no less than 3 times was the game delayed from its original Fall 2010 release, leaving one to wish Day One Studios (Mechwarrior series, Fracture) and Warner Bros. to just announce the release when it was actually don...

    F.E.A.R. 3: Cheap thrills that don't fulfill 0

F.E.A.R. 3 is an average, and unremarkable, horror first person shooter. If you have ever played a fps then you'll be familiar will everything that F.E.A.R. 3 has to offer, if you have never played a fps before... well that kind of odd and remarkable, and you probably shouldn't have your first fps experience with F.E.A.R. 3. This isn't to suggest that F.E.A.R. 3 is a bad game, but more to the fact that the game lacks polish. It has some nice things going for it, the campaign gameplay varies enou...

Low budget, but still good. 0

F.3.A.R or F.E.A.R 3 is the long awaited sequel to F.E.A.R 2. Does this game wrap up the trilogy in fashion? Or like most trilogies, is the conclusion a big let down?    FEAR 3 Boxart Concept Fear 3 takes place some months after Fear 2. After the shocking ending that still has some gamers talking, you're once again in the shoes of the original protagonist from the original game. Alma's pregnant and is close to giving birth. The original protagonist, only known as ...

Good Fun, But Feels Incomplete 0

I am a big fan of the F.E.A.R franchise. The first game was a really good Japanese Horror film turned FPS and was splendid. The second dropped the "japanese" flair but managed to be a good product as well. The third installment had a lot to live up to and switching over to a new and relatively inexperienced developer had me worried for awhile.Let the record show that this game was undoubtedly made with a co-op focus, so I took the liberty of playing through it three times for this review. Once i...

Solid, despite it's story shortcomings. 0

F.E.A.R. 3 or "F.3.A.R." as some call it, is not nearly as great as it's predecessors.  In 2005,  F.E.A.R. showed us a new side of horror that hadn't been seen in most games around that time.  Sure, Resident Evil 4 brought back the horror a bit, but with it's over the shoulder camera, and less of a focus on the "Survival Horror" elements that made the earlier games such a thrill, a lot of people, like myself, were starving for the next big scary game.  Everyone even had mixed feelings on Silent ...

    Thoughts & Ramblings: F.E.A.R. 3 0

F.E.A.R. 3 (I refuse to ever call it F.3.A.R. unironically) is the latest in the first-person shooter/horror game series.  As a followup to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin there are a lot of changes to the gameplay.  And this isn't necessarily a bad thing; F.E.A.R. 3 is a lot of fun to play.  Unfortunately, the story seems to take a hard back seat to the gameplay. To reiterate, the game is a lot of fun to play, even if a lot of its changes are aped from other shooters.  The guns are still responsiv...

    F.3.A.R.: Nothing to fear…at all 0

Fear 3 marks the end of the Alma trilogy, what began as a FPS that was filled with a dark atmosphere, a creepy little girl, and an interesting, conspiracy-esque storyline, which quickly degraded into jump scares and half-baked ideas, along with broken continuity. Despite these facts, there’s no mistaking that Fear 3 attempts to meld all of the broken continuity issues together the best it can, and deliver an experience that is at least in some way enjoyable…and deliver it, it did. Fear 3 pu...

Great Co-op game, lacking Single player game. 0

F.E.A.R 3 or F.3.A.R as it is affectionally called by certain individuals (not me though), is the 3rd game in the Fear series. A series which has historically stood out amongst the myriad of FPS' out there by throwing weird psychological horror and supernatural elements into the mix.F.E.A.R 3 is a definite step backwards in orginality, as that may not necessarily be a bad thing, but if you enjoyed the original F.E.A.R or F.E.A.R 2 then it is a not a given you will enjoy this game. The main differ...

    F.3.A.R. 0

I remember the first time I saw a trailer for F.3.A.R.  –  I knew I had to play it. Looking back at myself playing the original two titles brings back fond memories! The scares were not conventional or expected and the atmosphere was creepy and tense for 90% of the game. F.3.A.R. is not as frightening as it’s predecessor and the format of the game varies a lot. That being said, however, this does not spoil the game for me, but in fact enhances it. It’s nice to see that Day 1 Studios have not s...

    Huh. 0

Ok, So I was kind of looking forward to this game. Hoping it would have some similarities to the last. However, Totally different. After playing this game through, I realized that I kind of wasted my time on it. There are some parts of it I liked. But, Eventually I just couldn't do it anymore. Then also, I noticed then I started playing what was called Fucking Run. Okay. I'm sorry, I don't understand whats so intense about running from a cloud of death. Maybe its just me. But its not something I...

    Fear 3 Review: A fearful conclusion 0

I found Fear 2 to be an exciting roller coaster of a game with a lot of thrilling moments in its campaign and some genuine scares,. Fear 3 has a lot to live up to, especially considering the ending of Fear 2. However, it has not quite achieved this, but has done some interesting things in other areas of the game. Monolith are not developing it this time, with Day 1 Studios taking that role.    Fear 3 puts you back in control of the Point Man from Fear 1. Its a bit of a jarring transition and ear...

    Short Game, Short Review. 0

The perpetually silent Pointman and Fettel have eventually put aside their differences, or that’s what they want you to think in F.3.A.R. A sequel that’s not particularly in line with the rest of the franchise but has so much more to provide on a Co-Op footing than many games that have been released recently.Upon my 3rd completion I thought I had experienced enough to at least discuss the game. Although it hasn’t quite got the scare factor of it’s previous iterations the challenges in game and s...

Complex and brooding pregnant demon? No, shrill whale (sic). 0

For me, the F.E.A.R franchise was one that opened with more of a "pop" than a bang. I am not ashamed to admit that, for a significant amount of time the PC version of F.E.A.R. represented something akin to CRYSIS. My school laptop pissed itself at the specs and then BSOD'd to neutralize any perverted inclinations I might have to emasculate it further. I contented myself with reading positive reviews, ogling a couple screenshots, and moving on.It wasn't until some time later that I encountered th...

    Thoroughly Average 0

I beat F.E.A.R. 3 over the course of a lazy Sunday afternoon. It took me about 4 hours from start to credits. Later that evening, a friend asked me to recount to experience. I thought for a moment, and then replied, “It was functional, and mostly free from glitches.” There’s not much else to the game, which claims itself a continuation of the Monolith franchise.  Yet nothing in here really denotes it as such. I suspect it started life as an entirely different project before being retroactively ...

    Where's the F.E.A.R.? 0

Pros -Improved gun mechanics -Co-op is a welcome addition Cons -Lackluster story -Boring atmosphere  I knew there was problem the second I realized this game wasn't developed by Monolith. Yes the gunplay is much improved, you no longer need to rely on slomo for every battle. The co-op option definitely adds some variety and fun to the mix, playing through levels as Fettel adds some replay value.  However , the soul seems to be gone from this game. The creepy atmosphere , which was a staple of th...

    great game 2

im 30 mins in and its off the hook crazy, really creeps me out, haven't had this feeling since resident evil (not the new arcade kind of crap but the first ones). the mecanics of the game its just awesome you can be tactical or rage against your opponents. weapon selection its very standard nothing out of the ordinary on the other hand they have a great art concept. graphics are good physics could be better. definitely top 10 of this year ...

    Don't fear FEAR 3 0

The FEAR series has always been an interesting concept to me that has just never seen its full potential and FEAR 3 is no different. One thing that fans of the series can agree on is that the story is kind of hard to follow and totally disturbing. These are two points that FEAR 3 hits many times throughout its campaign. FEAR 3, like its predecessors, is jam packed full of disgusting and violent imagery that is enough to keep you up at night and just enough to keep you interested in the game. It...

F.E.A.R. 3 keeps the conflict in the family 0

The Fear games have always included some nice weaponry, bizarre creatures, spooky moments, and random Alma encounters, and Fear 3 follows this formula as well. This time around you control Point Man and Fettel, Alma's offspring, as they set out to find their mother and decide on what to do when they reach her since she's ready to give birth to her new baby. Point Man and Fettel: Alma's pride and joy. Things are a bit tense throughout the story since Point Man can not seem to ignore the words of ...

    Solid but not inspiring 0

The original F.E.A.R was one of the best games I played with the 360 launch and was one of the few shooters that truly deserved the hype heaped upon it by the gaming press. This game, like that game's sequel does not live up to that game's high standards. However, the addition of Fettel as a playable character makes the campaign much more interesting than it otherwise would've been as he is an immensely more interesting playable character than Pointman, due to the fact that as a Spectre he has p...

Multiplayer...I am really getting sick of that word... 0

6 years ago F.E.A.R. introduced us to Alma wade, a haunting little girl in red whose past is shrouded in mystery, as we progressed thru the game experiencing chilling vision, haunting scenes from the past, and blood rising to the cealing in almost every level, we learned the terrifying truth. This ghostly child is our mother, tortured and experemented and forced to give birth to us, the first prototype, a failed experiment created in hopes of creating a psychic commander, for a global corporatio...
