Welcome to The Haul.

So I got some stuff.  Some games (some good, some great).  A peripheral.  And no time. Gears 2 is spectacular.  The whole Patton-esque segment after the prologue had me in awe.  Purchases will be on a much smaller scale for an indefinite time period after this.  My money will be going to Christmas gifts and the like.  A question for the ladies: how can a purse possibly cost so much?  I guess I blow tons of money on games, but it's hard to justify a purse purchase.  At least I can play my games... A purse just needs to hold stuff.  Oh well, I've never pretended to understand the opposite sex.  On to the games (I've gotta get this thing up before it hits midnight EST and they turn into pumpkins).

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Limited Edition (PS3) - New

• Comments:  A relatively interesting LE complete with soundtrack and special steelbook packaging.  Limited to 25,000 copies (according to the numbered laser cell included).

I recently got F.E.A.R. Files for a sweet price. I decided to hook up my camera and get some off-screen footage of one of the spookiest levels in Extraction Point;



This was filmed off-screen from a distance (as that is the only way I can get a decent height, by putting the camera by my window), so the sound might be a bit low and the brightness odd at times. Granted, the quality is butchered by a 100 MB limit (the original was around 1 GB and Windows Movie Maker would have compressed it to 380 MB by default) and GameSpot's encoding process, but I still find it watchable and will make more videos. This movie has been edited to fit the 10 minute limit, so the movie will fade out and then in again to replace dull gameplay. F.E.A.R. is scarier than ever, but I have gotten used to most of their scare tactics by now, though I must admit I was hesitant to turn around when the door didn't open...

I assume that I will make a Shivering Isles video next, as I have just purchased it thanks to the Extended Play Download Days, which cut the price to 1600 MS Points. I am yet to play it and won't be able to until Sunday, so look forward to a "New Game:" blog post then!

Please tell me how you think about my awesome slow-mo skills, and please don't take into consideration that I used up like 5 medpacks on the first shielded soldier...!

I found a sweet price for F.E.A.R. Files online. It cost me 199 NOK, which is one third of the full price of a game here in Norway. I enjoyed the original F.E.A.R. on my mediocre laptop, but it's nice to have some proper graphics. Also, achievements! Seems like I'll be playing this a couple of times over, with achievements for completing the two expansions on Extreme, without dying, without depleting the flashlight, etc. There is also a new Instant Action Mode, which I assume is kinda like the Mission Mode in Ninja Gaiden II, though I am yet to try it. There's also an online component, but I won't bother with it.

F.E.A.R. Files is basically a straight port of Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, the two expansion packs earlier released on PC. It's got some new weapons, plot, enemies and locations, but it's really more of the same. Not that it's a bad thing. I am getting tired of being chased by infernal creatures, though.





























Overall, for such a cheap price, this is a very nice game. I am looking forward to Project Origin.
