Rumors about Fez escaping the confines of Xbox Live Arcade existed even before the game was released on Xbox 360, but it’s official: Fez will arrive on Steam on May 1.

Designer Phil Fish announced the news this morning on Twitter, and is currently answering questions about the port and Fez through an Ask Me Anything on Reddit.

Fez is coming to PC first, but will eventually be released on Mac, as well. Fish is also “working with Sony” about a possible Vita port, but can’t “100% confirm that yet.”

Fish also commented on what he’s been up to since Fez was released into the world.

“A lot of non-creative work,” he said. “I haven’t really ‘made’ anything since the game came out. a necessary evil, I suppose. But life has generally been really good!”

He also revealed something that is currently driving Jeff and I nuts: there are undiscovered secrets in Fez.

Good news, crossing this off my PC-port wish list. Next item on the agenda is Dust: An Elysian Tail.

Cool, was waiting for a PC version. I wonder if Linux is something they'd be looking into as well. Wouldn't mind a 3DS version either.

Glad to see it's gaining more ground other than XBLA though, the more that get a chance to play Fez the better.

This is good news. I'm still interested in playing Fez, hopefully these versions will have fixed the problems from the original, but I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Vita version would be particularly interesting, seems like it's an experience that would suit that platform well.

All I can think about (other than those undiscovered secrets) is how the puzzles that use vibration will work...a lot of Fez's design seemed pretty 360- or at least console-specific

Even though i've played through the game already on Xbox I might have to pick it up on Steam as well. Beacuse...Fez. Also, it's bonkers that there's more to discover in that game. Oh god, please don't tell me there's a secret Dave Lang Zone level. I don't think I can handle any more Lang right now....

That would be amazing. This is one of the few games I actually cared about on the 360 (I don't own one) so having it come to either PC or Vita would be amazing.

@seanfoster: Next item on mine is the xbox version of Spelunky, Trials Evo finally is coming out for steam, now if Spelunky does, I will be very very happy.

Undiscovered secrets? Well fuck. Hopefully they aren't all suddenly discovered when the PC version comes out.

I must also stress that the experience of this game is the sense of discovery it creates. This is a game that you do not want to spoil with guides of any sort, because it will indeed tarnish your experience with the game.

Oh and while Phil Fish is an asshole, if his personality (which has no presence or reflection in Fez) is enough to ruin a game for you, you are far too sensitive and would probably live happier if you stopped playing video games. It's something that has been thoroughly discussed over the past year and needs no further dwelling-on.

Did the Xbox version ever get fixed? I'd 'finished' the game when the save bug was found and never went back because of it.

But yeah, good for everyone who didn't get a chance to play it yet. PC may be better for map navigation.

Listen, I'm drawing to mind something Louis CK once said which was something to the effect of: people always seem to think everything you say must be some well measured, thought out thing that takes everyones opinions in mind.

I would hope it supports the controller, game seems ideal for it and I'd hate to punch in the codes via lame ass keyboard :S Entering the konami code, and seeing how it's mapped to buttons that actually make sense, would be tough to re-configure just for the keyboard.

After watching Indie Game: The Movie I feel for the guy, and am glad that it worked out for him. It is well known that the Super Meat Boy guys made a ton more money off Steam than off XBLA, hopefully Fish will have the same happen.

I don't think anybody sees it as a bad thing, it is just kinda hilarious to see how he badmouthed the PC when the game launched and now comes crawling back cause he didn't made that much money on XBLA. (or so I've heard)

I don't remember much about it, but didn't the creator of Fez talk shit about how he intended the game to only be on consoles? I really don't want to give money to this guy, good thing I don't really care about the game.

Nice. Have it on XBLA, but looking forward to impulse buying this on a Steam sale so I have an excuse to play it again.
