    Viva la Vida FIFA

I will state, up front, that I am not a fan of soccer. I love baseball and football, and watching soccer bores the crap out of me. I will also state that I have played baseball, football and soccer. However, you may note that I said watching soccer bores me. The playing of soccer is beyond my abilities unless speaking of the FIFA video game, and interests me to no end.

For the Wii, this game provides a chance to take over your favorite team and lead them to victory. This game takes on a sort of arcade mode, which allows you to try for certain manager points. These points seem to help more than hurt you, as I was able to beat the heck put of teams ranked below me, even though I had lost ranking points. Either way, this game entertained me beyond my initial hopes. I expected to see the usual pass and score game. Instead, I found this game to be much more complex. I had to fight for the ball and fight harder to keep it. I will admit I lead the league in red and yellow cards. I also led the league in goals scored and came in second.

FIFA 2010 offers several game options. You can play against friends, meet goals, and maintain a career as a manager. You can buy players, provided you have the points to afford them. You lose players to injury or suspension. It even seems that the refs dislike certain players over others. I can recall multiple times I have had certain players kicked out of a match for a bad call, and those players get really angry. I almost saw a fight... or more.

I won't say who my team of choice is (Liverpool) but I will say this game provides a good experience for those with a Wii to have some soccer fun. The music can be annoying, but not too bad. The controls are better than any soccer game I've ever seen. You can even tell players where to pass the ball, and direct plays before hand. The annoucers provide decent play by play. Even the choice of teams is great. It may not be "Winning Eleven", but FIFA 2010 for the Wii is a very entertaining and realistic game.
