EA's 2010 edition of the successful footy-game franchise.
Overview

Ronaldinho
FIFA 10 is the latest iteration in the FIFA franchise, EA Sports' popular football franchise, developed by EA Canada and licensed by the Federation Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA. As with previous versions of the game, this latest installment features licensed teams from the major football leagues throughout the world. It evolves on the gameplay established by its predecessors, using the same engine, but building on many of the modes and features debuted in FIFA 09 and FIFA 08. The game was released in European regions on October 2nd and the US on October 20th, 2009.
As of December 2009, FIFA 10 has sold more than 4.5 million copies and is the fastest selling sports game ever with 1.7 million copies sold in it's first week. It is also the top overall selling game of 2009 in Europe.
New Features
Many new features, and improvements to established features have been put into the game.- There has been a refinement of the ball physics.
- The Defensive line will usually be deeper, leading to a greater sense of realism in the game.
- A.I. - Goalkeeping, Positioning and defending have all received refinements.
- "360 Dribbling" gives the player a new sense of control over the ball, and the dribbling is generally more responsive, unlike previous FIFA games where only 8 axes existed.
- Using the Playstation Eye or Xbox Vision camera's, players can put their face onto a created player.
- The ability to take quick free kicks has been added. Referees will also show red/yellow cards quickly, to speed the continuation of the game up.
- Players cover spaces left by team mates.
- The practice arena has been improved, with new options to quickly set up practice matches while the game is loading, and is available through the Arena menu.
- The ability to change stadium names and assign them to teams has been added.
Game Modes
- Manager Mode - this standard career mode has been revamped, making it much harder to level up your team. Featuring many tweaks and refinements (transfers, experience points, HUB screen, kit numbers, staff upgrades etc.).
- Virtual Pro - a new addition to FIFA 10, players create their own footballer with the ability to add a scan of their face. Completing specific challenges allows players to improve the stats and this metagame carries across many of the different game modes.
- Be a Pro Seasons - players choose a single player and complete a season playing solely as that player. Staying in the primary squad requires the fulfillment of set challenges which also improves your footballer's stats.

- EA Sports recently announced the return of Ultimate Team, a popular post-release piece of DLC featured in FIFA 09, to be released for FIFA 10. The mode is based on a card collection mechanic where players are able to buy card packs with in-game money in order to build a team of players. The team can then be taken online or against the game's AI to earn more money and a more skilled team of players. This time the package will feature regularly updated challenges, tournaments and rewards.
