OH, RIGHT!!!  That's what the folks down on 18th and Gurley watch all the time...that thing that they CALL football but actually ISN'T football.

I LOVE American football AND Association Football (Soccer), and I'm an American. I lived in Mexico during FIFA World Cup 2006 and soccer is religion there. I was glued to the TV June-July 2006, and I have a great respect for it studying Spanish in Latin America, and realizing I would rather play it than hockey (I'm not a pro at ice skating, but I do love watching hockey in person). Football is the world's game, and I know there are a lot of Americans that love it. It just needs to be on Television a lot more, and the MLS needs to entice bigger name players for it to really catch on and catch up to the four major sports here in this country (American football, basketball, baseball, and hockey). And I also have to think that one of these four sports will have to suffer a bit, at least temporarily, for this kind of football to get a major TV deal, and major on-air time . I can't wait until World Cup 2010, South Africa!! USA! GO USA and Mexico (except when they play US), and go Canada if you make the tournament..North America rocks (we're nowhere near Europe or Latin America really in level of play)

dude...it is SO BORING on tv, and they try to play on tv a lot, but nobody wants to watch it. i like it sometimes, when im bored or hungover, just kick back and get real into, watch the different strategies develope and see some cool skills and ball handling etc.

but for the most part they jog back and forth and eventually score and you hear a guy go GOOOOOAAAAALLLL for ten fuckin minutes, and your like no wonder he's so fuckin happy, he waited like 40 minutes for somebody to fucking score already. i can't believe people can't sit through a whole match, think it was awesome, even though the score is like 2-1.  i compare this to Hockey, for the longest time people loved hockey how it was, but eventually, because of bigger and faster players, they needed to make some changes (mainly more scoring) to bring the ratings and popularity back up. and they did and i gotta tell you man, the game is sooo much more exciting for it. its all about speed and careful strategy, and finesse, and now the goalies are displaying much higher levels of skill and doing crazy stuff.
but lets not compare soccer to american football, its a totally different sport, and sooooooo much more complex, and if you wanna argue this, you will never win, i guarantee it.
and of course, this kind of stuff plays a factor:

well, if you're saying American football players are physically tougher and stronger I tend to agree. There have been players paralyzed on the field, and some have even died playing this game...BUT soccer players do it with ZERO pads and have much longer running halves...try having a 250-lb linebacker doing that or a 330-lb offensive lineman....don't get me wrong, I like American football more, and it is this country's most popular sport now in money and attendance, but you got to RESPECT the Association Football

    No pads you say?

Face it, Soccer and NFL are for girls.

As far as running halves. AFL has a four man interchange bench. I dunno about rugby, but im pretty sure they also run out most of the game.

Both videos auto-failed because of the music. I guess I could mute them and run my own "hardcore" music... but I shouldn't have to, so I won't.
