Every year we look forward to the new football season with excitement. Crowned champions, player transactions and which team has the top kit for the new season. With the new season also comes what to many football fans is of equal excitement, the latest edition of the FIFA franchise.
With it comes the latest improvements in graphics (sans crowd animations), physics, dribbling, tactics, AI, free kicks etc.
Sure we get to play as our favourite current players, why has the FIFA franchise never taken advantage of my deep love for players that no longer lace up their boots?
Imagine an Ultimate Team: Legends mode in FIFA, you could finally dribble past 5 players with Matt Le Tissier for example and lob one over the keeper with one of the Premier League legends. Grace the field as Zidane once more, gliding passed players in only the elegance he possessed. Bomb down the wings with your favourite fullbacks (Cafu, Maldini) or wingers from the seasons past. Command the box with Peter Schmeichel once more, or bag a hat trick with Romario.
Football fans, as passionate as myself, wear our hearts on our sleeves and love that nostalgic feeling of seeing our favourite players back on the pitch.
We get "Classic 11" but that doesn't really scratch the itch.
