In a press release, Square Enix has announced that an HD version of Final Fantasy Type-0 is on the way for new-gen consoles. The PlayStation Blog initially reported that the game was coming to Vita, but has since posted a correction retracting that statement. No release date was specified.

I'm surprised that game even came out, but I'm even more surprised they're releasing a HD version. Interesting.

Poor fan translation team, you just released a patch for the PSP version and all your work was rendered moot.

Kind of funny and tragic that this gets an official release when the fan-translation is suppose to be out come August.

Man this is really cool. I'll be picking this up when it comes out. I need to pick up a PS4 now in a few months so I can play all these games!

Oh wow, I think I played a demo of this a while back when I toyed around with a Japanese psn account. Cool it's getting a western release.

What is Type-0, and is it any good? I've still got that remake of FFIV for PSP ready to go on my Vita, which looks like a rather awesome take on classic Final Fantasy gameplay in more contemporary presentation, without all the longwinded and VO-heavy anime-style meanderings of the modern games.

The strange thing is that these are all the things that make the DS port of FF4 the definitive version of that game. (Maybe not long-winded, but lightly Shakespearean.)

Just caught up with the game on youtube. It looks supremely wierd. Like a mix between Final Fantasy XII combat with an oldschool overworld, with some sort of RTS stuff going on. The fuck?

This game's supposed to be pretty spiffy; hurray.

This game is more along the line of crisis core but more emphasis on timing for "crits". Also, you have 13 characters in teams of 3 instead of 1 character. Pretty good game, bit grindy I thought. It won't blow anyone's mind I think. Also, this should have been on the vita also.

I'm shedding tears of joy here. Squeenix seems to be making the right choices now.

Ironic thing is for all the people that have hyped it and wanted it stateside, I've heard it's actually not very good from numerous people. Not everyone mind you, but a fair share.

Looking forward to it though, regardless.

Pretty ironic that Crisis Core still isn't available on PSN, despite having been released in the West from the get-go.

I hope they get rid of the randomly triggered encounters or else I am not buying.

There are a bunch of very successful PSP games that never made it to PSN. When the PSP GO came out with only the ability to play digital games, the most recent successful game for it. I vividly remember the PSP Go coming out, and then the next big game for the PSP came out, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep (also by Square Enix), and it wasn't released for PSN (and it never was). Not only were many games pre-PSPGo not moved onto PSN, but many after weren't either (even when they said that, with the release of the PSP Go, they were going to focus on making games come out digitally).
