Destructoid is reporting on a rumor reported on by a site called psxextreme who is claiming somebody inside Playstation Lifestyle said an original version of FF7 would be coming out on PSN....and XBLA. Seems a bit tough for me to believe that it would be on the 360, seeing as how it was a playstation game originally. But hey if it does come out I'm buying it, anybody else interested?

Edit: Grammer.

I'd buy it.

You need to not make your text that shade of black, it's pretty hard to read. My thoughts on the chance of getting FF VII XBLA is cool but then I would have to buy a strategy guide off eBay, as a completionist I need to get everything.

#4 Posted by Jandurin (186 posts) -

I would buy it, as well.

Suffice to say... I don't see it happening.

People always say that. It's not the same. I'd rather look at a nice, glossy, detailed page with pictures then some printed out piece of shit.

I'd buy it hands down.

Most overrated game ever.

Yeah I hear ya, I'm not sure how it came out like that. It also seems to be resisting all attempts to change it.

If it was redone in hd i would buy it.

Well if you feel it's incredibly overrated, don't buy it. It's really that simple.
#12 Posted by Gaughan (97 posts) -

I would love the offer of FFVII on XBLA as none of my Ps discs work now...
Yet the chances? Up in the air now after FFXIII is being released on the 360.

#13 Posted by DarkLegend (1387 posts) -

I already owned that game, it wouldn't matter to me. I'm sure the rumor is false anyway.

That's a great point. I think I would buy it either way, but I'd greatly prefer it to have a graphical upgrade. I don't want to play it in a small window surrounded by some fancy border on my TV.

Normally, I would agree.  At this point, I bet the fan walkthroughs are a LOT better than the "official" one, though.

Do not worry your little head about it , I have no intention in buying it. I just thought it necessary to share my opinion with fellow Giant Bombers. It really is that simple

Not sure how true it actually is, but I'd love to buy it.

Oh don't worry about me. I appreciate the thought, though.

I think that would be cool for people who never got a chance to play it.

#20 Posted by BlackSuitAndTie9 (289 posts) -

I'd get up early to buy it and play it.

#21 Posted by Gunslinger (149 posts) -

As one of those "darned hooligans who don't know the classic games", I'd download FFVII if it came out, since I'm into the turn-based stuff, and after all, there must be some reason as to why almost everyone acclaims it as one of the best games on the PS.

I think the chances of that rumour being true could be higher than people give it credit for, since when FF games started coming out on the GBA and DS, rather than sticking to the Sony products for their earlier games, they remade the first few.

But that little kid inside is psyched for the chance to play a Final Fantasy game again, since I sold my PS2.
But Microsoft better not ruin it by putting those little banners either side of the screen, like on Soulcalibur, or by putting really gimped achievements, like "use 1000 potions", or "Defeat boss 1", "Defeat boss 2", and so on.

#22 Posted by OblivionGuy07 (161 posts) -

I would definitely buy it! I never got to play it before... I played Crisis Core though, which was awesome. Seriously, this game would do really well if it came to the XBLA

#23 Posted by gla55jAw (2686 posts) -

i'd get it if it were in HD considering i have it for playstation.

#24 Posted by the9 (95 posts) -

I doubt it will fit the memory constraints that XBLA has. I mean 4 discs and the fmv's and that's if they don't HD it.

#25 Posted by Kenzo287 (722 posts) -

why can't this game die?

I'd buy it, but I don't see how putting it on XBLA is possible.  I mean, the game spans four discs and the XBLA cap right now is 350MB.

If he feels the game is overrated he is allowed to state that, you don't need to be so defensive about it.
I also think Final Fantasy Seven is overrated, that doesn't make me a bad person. I own it it's a good game but I don't get why so many people think it's one of the greatest games of all time.
#29 Posted by hazelnutman (1097 posts) -

I don't know why, but I can't stand not having a hard copy of any game.

The only games I have which isn't a hard-copy is Counter Strike: Source.

Just a collector thing I guess >_>

Microsoft doesn't decide what the achievements are in third party games and they don't decide what aspect ratio third party arcade games are going to be.

I don't care if it's coming to Xbox 360, I'm still getting it on PS3, it's the principle I tell you!

#32 Posted by Mourne (789 posts) -

Final Fantasy VII is my absolute favorite game of all time, all things considered, but I'm not sure about this (even though I don't believe the rumor, personally). I don't like the idea of even remaking it, as a lot of the game's charm would be lost.

I'm up for a re-release on XBLA (strange idea), but I don't want another Crisis Core (which I found to actually be incredibly linear and overall ineffective).

#33 Posted by Leon31 (125 posts) -

I might buy it, though I would probably get it on PSN before anything due to the fact it would most likely also work on the PSP. Also, I just find it odd that FFVII would be put on 360 in general, though since the XII announcement, who knows. We could see older FF titles also hitting XBLA. Just have to wait and see I guess.

#34 Posted by lucas_kelly (769 posts) -

I doubt it, but I hope so.

#36 Posted by Sentry (4197 posts) -

I doubt it would come to XBLM before PS Store though. :\

Perhaps both day one? XD

#37 Posted by Taalon (112 posts) -

Crisis Core is good enough for me :)

#38 Posted by Echelon730 (89 posts) -

I know I am going to be called crazy for this one, but seriously I didn't like FFVII it just run of the mill to me, Maybe because I played it a few years after it came out and also had a lot of the plot ruined by friend and fanboys.

I will try it agin but that is about it

#39 Posted by TheLimper (15 posts) -

Sounds like a great idea to me. I don't really believe it's going to happen, but who thought FF 13 would come to the 360.

#40 Posted by SamFo (1514 posts) -

FFXIII is coming out, so although I don't think it will happen, I'm not going to shoot down the rumor just yet.
PSN seems obvious, XBLA seems impossible.

#41 Posted by LightYagami245 (1117 posts) -

I highly doubt that Square would do that. They wouldn't of made a tech demo for the PS3 using that game if they were going to put it on XBLA.

#42 Posted by Prototype (82 posts) -

I think it would be great but i definitly think that if they were to annouce something like this TGS would be the place

They do have Xbox Originals on XBLM, Im sure they could manage something for FF7.
#44 Posted by Kaycon11 (91 posts) -

No man, The place to do it would be at the weirdly named show by S-E. However, I just don't think it will happen, In fact, I think I read somewhere that the S-E president came out and said that it's not a FF7 remake, But I never verified the source or read the whole article, I think it was somewhere on N4G.

#46 Posted by I_smell (3925 posts) -

Don't be stupid. This was a game ON THE PLAYSTATION- BY SQUARESOFT. Live Arcade wasn't even made for things like this- It might not even fit on Live Arcade. Why would they remake the entire game, but keep it small enough to fit in the Live Arcade restrictions? What kind of company would think that was a good idea? This is so crazy- I can't believe anyone would fall for it.

IT WAS ON THE PS1 FOR CHRIST SAKE.

Dude Look at the originals section of XBLA. Im sure microsoft would host FF7 if they could. Dont be daft.
#48 Posted by I_smell (3925 posts) -

Yeah, because those games are for the XBox- So they've got their own set of rules.

Unless you're saying they're gonna make a section called Playstation 1 Originals.

No, im saying Microsoft would obviously know how big this is for gamers, and would cater for that.
