Final Fantasy XIII Famitsu Review Leaked?
If this is true, then sit down everyone. Final Fantasy XIII only got a 39/40, the same as Modern Warfare 2. The guaranteed 40/40 most of us thought would happen... I guess not.
Discuss.
" finalfantasy-xiii.net are claiming that they may have the Famitsu Review for Final Fantasy XIII. It may have been leaked in Hong Kong. If this is true, then sit down everyone. Meh. I've lost interest in the FF series for quite a while now. I might pick this up eventually but I don't feel motivated to get it whether it got 40/40 score anyhow.
I can say this honestly, I have never once bought a game based on a review score. And i feel sorry for people that do
" According to Famitsu: Bayonetta > Final Fantasy 13 I'm curious to see how much the game is going to sell when it hits the streets of Japan. Probably a shit ton, but it's just something I would like to know. "So let me explain how people work. They're not a collective mass that is single minded and one thinking. Bayonetta had 4 reviewers and FF13 had 4 reviewers, possibly 4 different ones, and you're making definitive assumptions based on a single point difference between possibly 8 different reviewers. Idiot.
Famitsu perfect scores are random/highprofilegames/moneyhats, hence why people expected a 40/40 for FFXIII. It's quite the shocker if it doesn't receive it (I don't trust this leak yet) since you'd expect Square to pay up big for this one game over all others. It doesn't mean anything about the game's quality, it's just a weird development as the 40/40 was almost guaranteed. That is all. For those "lol @ trusting reviews" types.

Lol, I was just making that statement in relation to what most of us thought it was gunna be, which was a "guaranteed 40/40". I am not one of those people by far :p" @Luke said:

I think the thing we should focus on more is just how random Famitsu has been this past year or so. They are basically telling us that Bayonetta is better than both Final Fantasy XIII and Modern Warfare 2.
I guess when we're all able to play all 3 of these games, then we can make our own judgments and see if Famitsu is actually worth trusting.
" Famitsu reviews are a joke. Stop paying attention to those weird people. "They'd give 40/40 to anything- its meaningless.
It's not definite at all, it's more symbolic but even that is arguable these days. Predicting the Famitsu scores are rather interesting regardless.
39/40 sounds just fine, for those you who need some retrospect for the sake of fun:
Famitsu scores of previous Final Fantasy's
Final Fantasy I - 35
Final Fantasy II - 35
Final Fantasy III - 36
Final Fantasy Ⅳ - 36
Final Fantasy V - 34
Final Fantasy VI - 37
Final Fantasy VII - 38
Final Fantasy VIII - 37
Final Fantasy IX - 38
Final Fantasy X - 39
Final Fantasy XI - 38
Final Fantasy XII- 40
Final Fantasy XIII - 39
From Kotaku:
This year, Japanese magazine Famitsu has awarded a perfect 40/40 score to three games: Dragon Quest IX, Bayonetta and New Super Mario Bros. Years-in-the-making and eagerly-anticipated Final Fantasy XIII did not.
Famitsu has four reviewers rate games on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best for a cumulative 40/40 score. Famitsu praised the game's cut scenes as well as the battle system and the high level of strategy it offers. Interestingly, one Famitsu reviewer noted how up until the mid-way point of the game, the story seemed be linear and that it didn't offer any new "gimmicks" in its story telling.
First part of the game is linear, then opens up? Yup, that sounds like traditional Final Fantasy which is in-congress with everything that I have read about this title so far.
" Damn, 39/40? Not buying anymore. "They were robbed. Obviously, the game is being penalized for being on the 360, too!

Because not achieving the fabled 40/40 score on Famitsu apparently invalidates FFXIII's alleged greatness." @Luke said:

Good. I honestly hate when games are sandbox right from the get-go, because they usually lack story structure. Case-in-point: Oblivion. The only purely open-ended game franchise I really enjoy in Grand Theft Auto, and even those games gradually introduce you to the world.
