That Final Fantasy 13 is good solid Japanese RRG! Now whether or not it's a good solid Final Fantasy Game is whole other debate that should NOT spoil your overall enjoyment of the game. For example FF12 sucked as a FF Game because of the lack or to no character development an story ect. But as a level grinding deep dungeon crawler it was epic an got the job done in that department.

FFXII sucked. If this is anything like FF10 or FF8, I'll be overjoyed.

The only FF game I've ever finished is FFVI... which has set the bar HIGH for every other FF game.

to bad that is the complete opposite that square told us.

Actually the most important thing to remember is that Final Fantasy fans hate Final Fantasy as a rule...excluding the first one they ever played. In that case it was the awesomest game ever made. 
 
Oh, and everyone who says FFXII  sucks has the wrong opinion :D  

One can not argue in general it's a "good" game.

Final fantasy 6 was the best in the series by far.  Had the best story, combat, and character development. Plus it had the only antagonist out of the entire FF franchise (Kafka) who did what he set out to do, and that was destroy the friggen world and become the ultimate being. You still ended up kicking his ass, but he did what he wanted.
