I was wondering where is the official review of Final Fantasy XIII? Other sites already got that right... What is Giant Bomb staff doing???
Final Fantasy XIII
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released Mar 09, 2010
This entry into the Final Fantasy universe is set in the worlds of Pulse and Cocoon. Players take control of multiple characters who are caught in a war between these worlds.
Where is the official review?
Probably soon because they got it in the office on the 4th (according to Jeff's twitter). GDC might be cutting into the playtime, but probably this week.
I think they have to beat the game before they can review it. And it just came out like, a few days ago. And I don't think they got an advance review copy. And they have other games to get through. And GDC is coming up. And they have videos to record.
If you were waiting to hear Giant Bomb's analysis, let me simplify it for you: it is a Final Fantasy game. There, now you have all the information you need to decide whether or not you are going to buy it.
I hope Brad gives it 5. It really deserves it, contrary to what all the reviewers who jumped on the 'let's hate the popular jrpg' train say. Different =/= bad. People ask for JRPG's to start doing new things... FFXIII does it, and people cry about it. How funny.
It really a deserves a higher metacritic score, I think, and a 5/5 review from Brad would help bump it up... but, hey, I guess we have to wait and see.
(Disclaimer: I'm not a fanboy, the only FF I like outside of XIII is IX. Please no 'lolfanboy'.)
They need to anchor a thread about how giantbomb's reviews always come "late". Can I turn this thread into something interesting? . . . . Why does Brad get to review all the big games? Jeff said he was reviewing this one and I believe he is going to review GOW3 as well. Plus Mass Effect 2, he's already going to review 3 of the biggest games this year.
I don't think they will give it a 10/10 (5/5 in this case). Anyway what other games are more important than this (I heard this game was one of the most awaited games to come out together with Bio Shock 2, Mass Effect 2 and others)? I need the review to know if it's worth spending my 60$ on this game... Than which one is the better version Xbox 360 or PS3?
There are other outlets for reviews. I don't think Giantbomb would even want someone to only use them an not look into other avenues for information." As to your second point. PS3 wins end of discussion.
Takes time to make a review, I'd rather them finish the game and write a good review rather then write a review based on the first few hours of the game (as some people/places tend to do).
The game starts off a bit on the slow-side, so a review based on the entire game is really what is required. I'd expect one in the next few days, but it isn't a short game.
"lolfanboy :p

well destructoid doesn't have their review yet because Squenix is holding back most copies a couple days longer than normal in fear of piracy, apparently. Maybe it's the same problem for giant bomb
No?
You really should.
Besides, if it's late don't worry yourself, it'll show up eventually. I mean the review staff is a team of four, and if you haven't noticed, there's a lot of games coming out this year. Also the fact that they're covering GDC this year too might also come into the equation.
Basically, just relax a bit and your patience will be repaid in kind once Brad is done with it. :-)
They aren't as big and well known as the IGN, 1up, or other big sites. They don't have the man power to review games the day they come out.

And, as far as story goes, FF13 does absolutely nothing new. Yes, it has a cool new battle system or whatever, but that doesn't really make it different.
FF13 doesn't change anything about JRPGs, which is why people haven't been liking it.
In other words: lolfanboy.
we dude would you rather have quick looks and bombcast and all the other cool shit or have a review for ff13 now.
Well it gives you guys more time to come up with an excuse for Giantbomb's anti JRPG bias if they hate it and to fully prepare your "I told you guys this game was amazing" speech if they love it. I feel like he'll strike in the middle somewhere but Im sure you can find a way to skew it one way or the other, internet people.
Ok! I'll wait for it, thnx. for the comments! As for the "Piracy issue" I guess you are right in that point.
P.S: I want the review from this site because it seems trustworthy. Other "Big" sites just turn every game into a chain of marketing, reviewing according to the money they take from the publishers. IGN is still in my graces though, and Giant Bomb too; that's why this site is not a "Big"-one I suppose.

Sorry? I never said 80 was terrible, but it sounds like you're just one of those typical BAWWWW JRPG'S AREN'T WRPG'S people. FF13 DESERVES a higher score than it currently has on Metacritic, simple as. It might not do LOADS of new stuff, but it's still a very high quality game. If games Like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age (both good games) can get 90+, so can this, because it's on the same level. If games from genre's other than JRPG's don't have to be innovative to be good, JRPG's don't either.
