Don't want to start a PS3 vs. XBox 360 - 'which one is better' war here :S
So i have purchased the X-Box 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII today and it appears that the game is so big that it spans across 3 discs. Where as i have read that the PS3 version is only on one disc. And that got me wondering, why is it that the developers can fit the game onto one PS3 disc where as the 360 has to have 3?
Is it just the case that 360 games contain more graphics, or use crappier discs that cannot hold as much?
Why is this the case I'm wondering?
Final Fantasy XIII
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released Mar 09, 2010
This entry into the Final Fantasy universe is set in the worlds of Pulse and Cocoon. Players take control of multiple characters who are caught in a war between these worlds.
Why 3 Discs? (XBOX 360)
The PS3 version of the game is 38GB, which is capable of fitting on a dual layered blu-ray disc which can hold 50GB of data, while the Xbox 360 version is compressed to 3 DVDs--equivalent to about 24GB. Graphics and audio are majorly compressed in the 360 version, which is why the PS3 version should be snagged if you have both systems. Thankfully, the 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII did not turn out like the PS3 version of Bayonetta.
" @CL60: Haha, or uses the phrase "contains more graphics". =) "wow, way to make me feel good. I'm sorry that i'm not studying English in college?...
I actually am studying English in college, good call.
Fine then I apoligise for that earlier. I just assume a man with your amount of posts would be more knowledgable about video games.
So now i know. I was only asking a question :S
The entire point of a BlueRay is to hold more memory. Final Fantasy's extreme use of CG and voice-overs forced Square to spread the game over 3 disks. However, one BlueRay is able to hold all the information. This is why BlueRay is needed for HD movies, for high definition takes up a fuck-ton of space." @CL60: Dude. I do not own a PS3. Sorry for now knowing?.... "
" Alright alright, stupid question, everyone laugh at me. I'm sorry i did not know about Blu-Ray. "ahh, don't worry. people will do that! at least you know what it is now ^^.
besides, this thread wasn't you asking what blu ray was so there was no need for everyone to jump on you :P
" @onimonkii said:mine are dvd+r maybe +r holds more graphics than -r?" idk why you guys are jumping in his shit, it says right on my dvds "4.7gb - 120 min video - 5000 graphics" clearly more gbs = can contain more graphics. "My DVDs only say 3000 graphics, what kind of DVDs do you have? "
" @CL60 said:Ah, perhaps that is it. I think the dvd+r holds up to 2000 more graphics." @onimonkii said:mine are dvd+r maybe +r holds more graphics than -r? Didn't you guys know that GB stands for "graphics bigness"? Come on now... Jeez.
Disclaimer: I am not making fun of the OP. He didn't know what blu-ray was, no big deal. Now he knows, and knowing is half the battle. Graphics were the other half, but GI Joe had to split the battle into two discs because there were more graphics than one could handle. Still not making fun of the OP. <3
Did you forget about the fact that a Blu-ray disc can contain 25GB(single-layer) and 50GB(dual-layer). THAT's why you silly sally, Lol.
And I can't believe you didn't know about Blu-ray disc readers being inside PS3's, I mean shit, even most casual gamers know about the Blu-ray capabilities.
Ah well... To be honest we all, as humans, don't know blatantly obvious things sometimes.
I mean when I was 12 I didn't know what the G-spot was Lol. Then this girl taught me and everything was right with the world again, for me that is, from age 12 and a half and onwards ;-p. Especially with my future sexual partners LMAO!
Disclaimer: I am in fact definitely making fun of the OP.Lol, but let it be known that I'm a guy, and guys make fun of each other as a natural course of male socialising.

Disclaimer: I am kidding. Lmao.
Lol. I thought that this would amuse you, especially since I'm right below you in the comments. ;-p" @crusnchill said:

I agree, contains more graphix is almost meme worthy
But to answer the question, a blu-ray can hold way more data than a dvd
" @crusnchill: Haha alright I'm an idiot I'll admit. An absolute retard. I'm mentally challenged apparently. I knew that PS3's had Blu-Ray players in them but i had no idea that Blu-Ray had anything to do with PS3 games. I thought it was all to do with playing Blu-Ray Movies. "Don't beat yourself up over it, man. If we can get this meme going you will live forever in our hearts for having created it.
" I can't believe somebody that apparently frequents a video game site (1573 posts) does not know what blu-ray is. "

hey man, there are very specific websites on the internet that are meant to make you feel good. forums usually aren't the place for that. unless it's a forum on one of those very specific websites.

lawl i see what you did there.
Dude! I was personally just playing with you. Don't be offended, I was just yanking your dingle dangle. LMAO!" @crusnchill: Haha alright I'm an idiot I'll admit. An absolute retard. Did I just say "your dingle dangle"?
Oh dear!
...Anyway, jokes aside, my reply was there to inform you about Blu-ray and also to poke a little fun, but not to offend.
It'd be like if my friend fell over. I'd go help him up straight away, but I'd still call him a dumb ass and ask him if he needed magnifying glasses for both of his eyes. Lol.
