福山 潤 and 櫻井孝宏 Rumored To Be Main Male Actors for Versus XIII

#1 Posted by KaosAngel (13765 posts) -

Jun Fukyama and Takahiro Sakurai are strongly rumored to be the voice actors in Versus XIII as two of the main male characters.  For people who don't know, these two also did the main characters for Code Geass years ago.  When you do a google search with their Japanese names and "XIII" you'll get a list of topics talking about this.

Nomura already said the male cast has been done, and the entire cast will be kept secret until the game "officially" unveils for public in 2012, but he also said that die-hard anime/game fans found out who the two of males are.

For those of you who don't know what Code Geass is, it's a story of two men trying to take over the world while growing up as childhood friends.  The first season was flawless, second season was kinda shit.  :|

This will be Jun's first Square Enix game project, while Takahiro will be returning to Square...he's the voice of Cloud Strife in Japan.  :P

So hardcore Japanese voice acting fans, looks like Nomura is going for the very best in the talent pool for this game.  Now only to hear the female cast speak!  There's rumors going around that the girl who did Haruhi's voice will be in the game too...but that's more of a joke.  >.>

Wonder if the Western version of the game will have Japanese voices with English subtitles.

I have zero hope for this title after the abomination of XIII.

I'm just glad you translated the names from the title. I don't read Japanese.

...it's a big deal in Japan.  These two are kinda really big names, and this would be the second time they are involved in a story about overthrowing a King together.

Interesting. I'm not much of a hardcore Japanese voice acting enthusiast, and make do with English dubs in most JRPGs and anime, but I've heard nothing but good things about both these guys.

Speak for yourself. If the English voice actors turn out to be shit, I want an english subtitle-japanese audio option. That way it'll be harder for me to tell if they are over or underacting. (its almost ALWAYS the former with Japanese voice actors/actresses.)

Johnny wasn't that bad.  Bah, if they are given good direction it can work...that's all anime dubs lack.

As someone who doesn't speak Japanese and isn't highly versed in their extended mannerisms I really have no first-hand idea of what good or bad Japanese voice acting sounds like. Frankly, I find it hard to believe that anyone who isn't at least semi-fluent can tell the difference between good and bad.

but do you really care who those voice actors are? I appreciate the want/need for a japanese voice track, but saying who they are is largely pointless. I watched the subbed Geass and yeah they sound like Japanese dudes I guess?

Johnny was SUPURB to listening the Japanese voice they gave Lelouch.. that voice was to deep and didn't have the impact they should have been looking for.

That's not the issue, the issue is that nobody except KA really gives a shit about Versus XIII in general.

Bleh, Code Geass is pretty terrible.

Well, the voice acting was fine from what I remember at least.

Do people care who the English voice actors are for a western developed game, particularly when the voice actor has some degree of fame in the voice acting scene?  Probably.

More on-topic, Jun Fukyama has a very distinct tone of voice and tends to improve the overall quality of whatever he's involved with.  (Not neccessarily making it good, but better.)  Now if Nobuyuki Hiyama was involved, this game would automatically be excellent.
