FFXV is actually FFVII-2 in disguise, because FF 7 and a 1/2 times 2 equals FF15....
Dude omg, that's science. It must be true.
Kingdom Hearts but with a Final Fantasy skin. I just can't wait and am absolutely delighted it's not cancelled. Wow my post is way too proper and polite.... SHIT FUCK FUCK SHIT. better

Wasn't it announced or "leaked" sometime around E3 that FFXIII Versus was actually FFXV now? Or were people speculating that too.
There was a video of an audience watching a faked FFXV trailer that was nothing more than a preexisting Versus XIII trailer with an FFXV logo appended at the end. It was completely faked.
I really feel sorry for the die-hard fans, who have to see this series flogged out like a dead horse over and over again by a once-great developer that is bound to make every game worse than the last. Square once made things like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV, heck even Final Fantasy 7 was a lot better than what they've put out since. The only good thing they've been attached of late was Deus Ex: Human Revolution and (I think?) RUSE, and I doubt they were very involved in the development processes of either.

Watch it actually happen.
They are going to flash "FFXIII Versus" on a big screen and then the "III" fades and "Versus" slides into where "III" used to be Finally the "ersus" from "Versus" disappears revealing "FFXIII Versus" to be "FFXV."
Then, We all find out that FFXV is actually FFVII-2 because as one of my earlier posts said FFVII-2 is like FFVII and a half and you times that by 2 and you get FFXV.
This totally makes sense in the world of Final Fantasy and would be the most contrived and "awesome" thing ever (in terms of video game announcements).

I hope someone from Square is reading this.
I can see this getting a name change but I don't think it will be Final Fantasy XV, they are not going to make an Action RPG the next main FF. However similar to Final Fantasy Agito XIII becoming Final Fantasy Type-0 I think Versus will get something similar. I'm hoping that Agni's Philosophy Tech Demo is FF XV because I think gritty coke bottle magic is exactly what the series needs.
I'm not sure I even want this game anymore. It always shocks me how incompetent a company of the caliber of Squeenix can be. Surely, this game isn't going to end up being more difficult to make, then, I dunno Assassin's Creed Brotherhood? Because they're a similarly huge company.

Different games of different sizes and scopes aren't necessarily equal in terms of difficulty in how they're made. You can't compare Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood to Final Fantasy Versus XIII in that way because, in all likelihood, Versus XIII is a much longer game, and all of its assets are brand new, whereas Brotherhood had the benefit of being able to recycle assets from Assassin's Creed II.
Basically, you're suggesting that that the development costs and effort between, say, Xenoblade Chronicles and Modern Warfare 3 should be the same because Nintendo and Activision are both enormous.
@mutha3: I think it's more of a 'Dream Team' of people being given unlimited money and time. Anytime I have heard a game dev on the bombcast they always say if they had more money and time. On the flipside if you take too long people lose interest and the game end's up being bad, case in point GT5

How was GT5 bad? I enjoyed it. I'd say that it was the first Gran Turismo that I could enjoy in any capacity.

Why do people keep saying things like this and insisting that it is some well known fact just because they may have not liked the most recent entry in the franchise? The games in the franchise are so wildly different, that nobody can agree on what the best/worst Final Fantasies are, cause they appeal in different ways to different people. Yet somehow, whenever a game comes out that isn't "My favourite FF-2" they panic and herald the end of the company. Unless you really think that FFIV was the last good FF, in which case I'm pretty sure you just don't actually like the genre.
There's a lot of people that actually LIKE their recent games. I don't like WRPGs, but I don't herald the end of Bethesda after Skyrim came out, just because I didn't like it. That'd be quite silly, yes?
It did seem that an awful lot of work to be put into a game just to be cancelled. Like I know they've mostly only released cut-scenes, but there was that trailer last year or whenever it was that had a lot of extremely quick gameplay footage and it seemed varied. I hope they chance the name because it's awful. The only tie to FF13 is they're using the same kind of creation story/goddess plot line (which btw, if they'd made more prominent in the first place, might have been cool, rather than burying it in hard-to-get lore and primers)
