doh I mean xv... anyway to edit the title?
Final Fantasy XV
Game » consists of 26 releases. Released Nov 29, 2016
The fifteenth entry in Square Enix's flagship RPG franchise, set in a world that mixes elements of modern technology with magic, a fantasy based on reality.
Versus re branded into an official numbered version - VX
I'm totally OK with this- Versus XIII always looked rad, but I wasn't sure what the connection to XIII really was. Apparently it was insignificant enough to sever all ties to XIII. Totally excited, because for some reason, I really loved XIII and XIII-2, and I'll totally play more Final Fantasy.
Well Gametrailers did just announce an exclusive reveal from Square at Microsoft this year so I suppose this could be it. Anyway we'll have to wait and see
This is what I wanted them to do, to balls-out produce the fuck out of that game and once again try something hella new and make it a new numbered. I enjoyed what there was to enjoy of FF13 and FF13-2. I'm happy about this.
The connection to FF13~ was the same concept universe of crystals and scifi-fantasy, but I'm happy they distance themselves away from it. What little, little has been shown of the game we knew as Versus made me happy. Less JRPG, more plain awesome. Hopefully worthy of replaying after finishing once, hopefully newgame+ mode(s), hopefully also endgame+ dungeon material. They need to rip off Star Ocean and Tales games.

DON'T! you dare to joke about Versus XIII being on E3 that would be unexpected , and at best It will be changed like Agito was changed to Type-0 I doubt they would turn this into the main numbered franchise.
Psssst, Versus XIII is not going to be at E3. I will bet Brad Bucks on it!
I was about to say that the VX title didn't surprise me because Square doesn't seem to understand Latin, but then I read your post. Dodged a bullet there.
A development like this wouldn't surprise me either - the game seems distinct enough from vanilla XIII to be its own game, and it likely gains very little from the association anymore, given XIII's divisiveness. I called it back when Fabula Nova Crysalis first became a thing that it was Square's attempt to artificially recreate a decade-long FFVII-esque dynasty, and I wonder if this, if true, signals their reconsideration of that strategy.
Still, I'll wait for official word.

What other main teams do square have though? There's a "major announcement" coming from them and surely it's too early to show the next project that the XIII-2 team is working on right?
And no fucking way is it a kingdom hearts game.
@Cloudenvy: How many?... I have all the Brad bucks by the way
@Benny: I don't know but Nomura said last year the game is still in production seeing how much he takes making those games I just can't see it ... plus didn't they say like 3 times that "we aren't going to show Versus XIII at E3"... not happening, now Dissidia 3 for the vita or for consoles now that would be something.

Don't toy with my emotions!
I would be excited for this if it was an SE developed game with a Tri-ace battle system. As it is, neither of those groups seem to be able to produce something truly great on their own
If true, I'm not against it at all. I just want the game to get released sometime before I turn old and senile. Let's hope the name change isn't the only news we'll get.
I'm not gonna hope anything untill it's official. Alot of sources says that trailer is fake.
I hope this is true, if only to spite the fanboys who insisted it would never come to other consoles (although still skipping the 360 wouldn't make much sense).
The name change makes sense anyway, the PSP game already dropped the XIII name, since these spin-offs basically have nothing to do with that universe anyway and Versus always looked big enough that it may as well have been a numbered entry.
If this is true, I'd be VERY curious to see how well the WiiU version of the game performs vs. the PS3. This will actually push me over to buy a WiiU if true.
EDIT: After watching it again I'm inclined to believe it's fake. They used pre-existing footage and just made a logo and slapped a few console logos on. Plus the room is tiny, this type of reveal is kind of massive.
I highly doubt this, seems way fake.
Also anyone hoping for them to re-invent the genre with a MAINLINE Final Fantasy game needs to pass that crackpipe to someone else. Final Fantasy -- you know that franchise that is continually nominated for the "Take a break" award? They crushed all my dreams when 13 came out and it was the same pseudo-linear, CG-filled story mess that they have been releasing for years.
And Square now confirms to Kotaku that the trailer is fake. /thread
