I for one, think they'll go until 17-20ish and then stop.

I can't honestly see an end to the franchise until the end of Square Enix, which is a long way off. The most important thing is the quality of the game, though, not the number on it. I won't care if it's called Final Fantasy 26, I'll still buy it if it's a decent RPG.

I see it going forever.  Maybe.  Probably not but I really enjoy the franchise so I have no complaints.

It's gonna keep going until the kids stop buying it.
And at that point....it's Dragon Quest and nothing else.

For me it died when Sakaguchi and Uematsu left. *melodramatic*  So I really don't care what Square-Enix has done and will do with it.

It will keep going until video games become extinct...and then it will turn into a TV show :P

As long as it sells and earns money, which means almost forever.

As long as they keep the quality as high as it is (and it's only gotten better), then I think the franchise could last forever.

I think it'll go on as long as someone owns the name, but I think in a decade it could be a completely different kind of game.  While I personally didn't like FF12, it shows Square has a desire to try new things with the series to keep it fresh, which is a great thing.

I'll be able to see those kids when I'm 60 playing Final Fantasy 38 and I'll be able to walk up to them and go "FINAL FANTASY VI IS STILL THE BEST ONE YET, FAGGOTS!" and they'll just be like... (if they even know it exists) "Ewww, two dimensions! Get out of here old man."

I think the series is in decline. Ever since FFVII it seems like the games have consistently been a little worse. I didn't even finish XII...
