I for one, think they'll go until 17-20ish and then stop.
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy is Square Enix's most famous and successful franchise and has been going for more than 35 years. With the impending release of Final Fantasy XVI, there are sixteen numbered mainline games, with dozens of spin-offs.
How long do you see this franchise going?
I can't honestly see an end to the franchise until the end of Square Enix, which is a long way off. The most important thing is the quality of the game, though, not the number on it. I won't care if it's called Final Fantasy 26, I'll still buy it if it's a decent RPG.
It's gonna keep going until the kids stop buying it.
And at that point....it's Dragon Quest and nothing else.
As long as they keep the quality as high as it is (and it's only gotten better), then I think the franchise could last forever.
"I think it'll go on as long as someone owns the name, but I think in a decade it could be a completely different kind of game. While I personally didn't like FF12, it shows Square has a desire to try new things with the series to keep it fresh, which is a great thing."They're also willing to listen to their fans, because they're keeping the stuff that gamers liked and nixing the stuff that sucked (mainly Gambits).
