I think final fantasy seven is the best fantasy game, well in my opinion. I just wanted to compliment this game. And if you've seen the movie, tell me what you think, and what makes you think that way. It's a really interesting topic, and the storyline for all of this was simply extravagant.

Thanks.

Other games such as
FFX, FFX-2 ,FFVIII, FFXIII, and FF versus XIII are awesome.

I mean the trailers for Versus XIII. Sorry If i mislead you!  O_O

Hrm, they havent even released FFXIII and versus XIII, so how do you know they are awesome?
Also, I feel like II, IV, V, and VI are the pinnacle of the series

I like to think that IV-X were the golden years of Final Fantasy, but if you wanted to get really picky, VI-IX.

You liked VIII Red? That was the only FF I could not make myself finish.....the story was good enough but the draw system was just a complete mess.

Crisis Core and Advent Children were okay IMO, they were enjoyable but it wasn't anything that great. Personally I loved 4, 6, and 9 the most.

Thanks for being honest, and I agree with you on the second half of your sentence. :D

You specifically seem to leave out all of my favorite FF games, like IX and VI. Anyways, I thought Advent Children was absolutely awful. Yeah, the CG was great, but it didn't make up for the cheesy, shallow, boring story behind it all. Not to mention, they absolutely ruined one of my favorite parts of FFVII by bringing Rufus back to life. In my own little world, Advent Children is somewhere with MGS4 in the realm of "not actually canon."

Ditto, i love all Final Fantasy's From IV up to X, VII being favorite and hell, even the shitty XII is better than VIII.
Ps, i thought X-2  was half decent.....

I actually never played VIII, but I know enough people who have loved it (and IX is awesome enough) to throw it in there. And Crisis Core is an awesome game.

Crisis Core's amazing story outdid it's terrible gameplay. The game actually made me cry at the end and that's the only game to ever do that.

Yeah Crisis Core was amazing. I didn't mind the battle since the story was so awesome. The fighting wasn't THAT bad anyways.

Rufus did not die in Final Fantasy VII, you are confusing him with Tseng. Tseng actually survived the events of VII legitimately, the reason for your confusion was due to a poor translation that was fixed in the PC version.

MGS4 is in the realm of "not actually canon"?
...err...alright...

By itself, I found the story of Final Fantasy VII to be subpar, particularly compared to Final Fantasy IV, VI, and VIII.  Part of that has to due with the U.S. version's shoddy English translation I imagine, but nothing in the game really grabbed me as much as moments in other games in the series have.

On the other hand, I do appreciate Square Enix's efforts in extending the fiction through the new games and films.  It's helped to add more depth to the characters and context to the universe.  Before the Compilation of FFVII began, Zack was just some guy who happened to be a SOLDIER that we really didn't know much about outside of Cloud's extremely garbled memories.  Now, with Crisis Core especially, his background has been filled out and he has a distinctive personality that differentiates him from Cloud.

So while one could make the argument that Square Enix is milking a cash cow by putting out all of these FFVII spinoffs, prequels and sequels, as a whole, they do improve upon the original game's storyline.

That is quite true, and pretty accurate i could say, but seriously, the original storylines are pretty impressive, they tweaked it up the past years, and it gets better, and sometimes it gets worse. like FF7, just got better.

I think that FFVI has the best story in the FF franchise. Not saying that the other ones were bad they were great too, but VI really stood out to me. Crisis core was (for the psp) amazing and I really like the story and the ending.

I think VII story was good enough but it was lacking delivery which Crisis Core did well in my opinion, as far as Advent Children I enjoy the action however the story is fairly disjointed, however saying that Advent Children Complete address that a bit more by explaining things more liike what the hell Geostigma actually is. However I would suggest if you do watch Complete watch On the Way to a Smile on the disc before the movie it helps explain a few things as well.

I hate the idea of playing FFVII so much that I refuse to buy the $9.99 PSN version, or play FF, ever.

Really liked FF7, but Advent Children was just weird. A lot of it didn't make much sense. It just seemed like an excuse to bring back all these characters. It was a decent action movie, but even that got old quick. By the time it got to the final showdown, I was more than ready for it to be over. I mean the last like 3rd of the movie is essentially one extended action sequence, with no real break.

FFVII had an awesome storyline, but advent children was shite. Every element of the story was just a way to get to the next action sequence. And I haven't played crisis core, so I don't know.

I agree. AC was brought back because they wanted to show what happens to cloud and how he copes with everything. they showed that, and in addition added kadaj and the remake of sephiroth to just make the movie longer and more interesting i suppose. AC was a little weak, but I enjoyed seeing cloud again.
