Which is the best final fantasy on the PS2?

I only ever really played final fantasy 7 and 8 but as some as you know im looking for some games to play and am thinking of booting up my old, old PS2 and getting some final fantasy. Please dont suggest anything other than Final fantasy thanks!

Final Fantasy 10 is still my favourite RPG of all time (and Ive played alot of em). So I suggest going with that.

FFX . I remember the time a bunch of dudes came over (including myself) to watch my friend beat the final boss and watched the ending together. Damn, some tears were falling

For ps2, I'd say FF XII. FF X was pretty good too. Actually X-2 wasn't a horrible game either. The story was crap, and it was really bad with the girlyness, but gameplay wise, it was a solid RPG (If a bit easy).

Ah yes, i remeber watching someone play x-2.

Could someone tell me what the combat systems are like in each game?

FFX - turn based

FFX-2 = ATB system (like in old FFs where there is a bar to fill up for each character before you can issue an attack)

FFXII - Kinda like an MMO...

FFX was a classic "This character can do this" sort of archetype. There is a "Sphere grid" which your characters are on. When you level up, you get a spot on the board. You can then use this to boost Str+4, Int+1, Learn new spells and such. Kind of like Deadspaces upgrade system if that helps you visualise it more.

FFX-2 had the job system from FF5 basically. Except dresses, and you can change in combat.

I never played FF12 but I do know abuot Ondores lies.

DONT BELIEVE THEM.

FF10's combat allows you to be able to sit back and have a good think. So its alot more tactical.

Yeah, im not into the more modern JRPG's where when you enter a battle and its real time and you can move about and stuff.

I enjoyed FFXII a lot even with the completely different way it was done... but FFX is one of my favorite RPGs ever, so I'd have to recommend that.

XII
I despised X.

I like the Ivalice universe, it's much more interesting than most of the other Final Fantasy worlds, and I enjoyed the focus on a more political storyline, rather than the teen melodrama from X.
Vann was a terrible main character, they should have stuck with Basche, but we only have the fans to blame for that.. and even then, he was only marginally worse than Tidus.
