Demo Out Soon!

#1 Posted by ManU_Fan10ne (659 posts) -

I've never played a Fire Emblem game (sad, I know), and I thought this might as well be the time that I actually play one. I did a little research about Fire Emblem and this game specifically, and I've got to say, I'm pretty hyped.

#2 Posted by mazik765 (2316 posts) -

Wow, I have been following this game for a while but I had no idea about the demo. Thanks for the heads up!

#3 Posted by gumdealer (97 posts) -

The demo is out now. After not playing a Fire Emblem game since the Wii one, I really enjoyed the demo. It has a lot more story and cutscenes than I remember the other Fire Emblem games having.

#4 Edited by SuperWristBands (2266 posts) -

Motherfucker. It opens with the main character having amnesia.

Edit: Okay, I managed to make my eyes stop rolling from his amnesia to see a surprising game. I didn't really know what I was getting into so I had no expectations but it's a damn fine looking game and a pretty fun one to boot.

3D character models look great and so do the battle scenes.

Art looks good and I already like the characters I was shown.

A few complaints to go along with it cause you gotta have those!

Their legs kinda look like this:

\/\/

and it weirds me out.

I wish the world map and battle map used the 3D models and not sprites, or even just better looking sprites, but models would have been preferred.

Yup. that's about it. Wish it were coming out sooner, I'll see if I still want it come Feb 4th (which is a Monday?) or if I'll put it aside for a later date.

Played through the demo. GAME PRE-ORDERED.

#7 Edited by OmegaChosen (647 posts) -

Preordered it already and was looking forward to the demo. It did not disappoint. I know I must really like this because I feel like punching Nintendo for not giving me more to mess around with. Oh well, off to see if I can beat it on Lunatic.

EDIT: Lunatic is the devil.

Hot damn I'm getting this demo right now!

#9 Posted by loyalroyal1989 (44 posts) -

holly hell didn't know there was a demo must download now. I have been waiting for this game for ages

#10 Posted by Sterling (2704 posts) -

I absolutely loved this demo and I am now even more excited to play this. I already had it pre ordered, but damn, way better than I was expecting it to be.

#11 Posted by DonChipotle (2851 posts) -

I was going to play as a lady but now I need to play as a dude so I can get my fire all over that red heads emblem.

#12 Posted by evanbower (1216 posts) -

That, my friends, was a great demo. I need more.

#13 Posted by Bishna (334 posts) -

The Demo was pretty damn awesome. The hardest difficulty was pretty much impossible. I absolutely cannot wait until release. The Game sold really well in Japan, I hope it sells appropriately more in the west so Nintendo will release more Fire Emblems over here.

Intelligent Systems has been putting alot of great stuff lately with Pushmo, Crashmo, Paper Mario, and now Fire Emblem. Hopefully they keep up the releases and maybe some stuff that will tempt me to get the WiiU.

I loved the demo so far, I'm so hyped for the release :D

#15 Posted by loyalroyal1989 (44 posts) -

I checked on the e-shop and could not see it I am going to assume the demo was only in the USA.

North America, more accurately. This demo is for the U.S./Canada market. I imagine the European demo will appear when the release date for that region approaches.

#17 Posted by Superkenon (1506 posts) -

I'm way excited for this game. Might pass on the demo though, so I can just start the actual game PURE AND INNOCENT.

What does the demo entail, anyway? First couple of chapters?

#18 Edited by Bulby33 (617 posts) -

Demo was dope, I'm looking forward to the retail game.

The demo is the first two chapters/the first two fights.

#19 Posted by Ducksworth (662 posts) -

Ah man, I cancelled my pre-order for Fire Emblem because Ni No Kuni falls fairly close but after playing the demo I'm considering putting it back on hold. That was a tonne of fun even without understanding how the whole unit placement thing works.

#20 Posted by Sterling (2704 posts) -

@Ducksworth: That is one of my concerns as well. I don't want to rush through Ni No Kuni, so I hope I can finish that in time without rushing through it. Otherwise I Fire Emblem will be sitting unopened on my shelf for a few day or weeks.

#21 Posted by maxB (318 posts) -

This is the most pleasant of surprises

#22 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

Perhaps Fire Emblem Awakening will be to the 3DS for me as Persona 4 Golden was for the Vita...

(By that I mean the only game I'll ever really want to play on it not from the system before it)

#23 Posted by Slag (4888 posts) -

Don't need no demo

This is Fire Emblem, it's going to be good.

#24 Posted by FoolishChaos (447 posts) -

I might buy a 3DS for this game...

Stupid question, how does one go about downloading this?

go to the eShop, select Fire Emblem (should be the second one on the main screen but you can probably find it in the New Arrivals), then the left option is the one to download the demo.

#29 Posted by BillyTheKid (486 posts) -

I must download this demo like now. I loved the Dragon one on DS, can't remember the name of it. Either way I was always a careful son of a bitch that would not let anyone die, this time it is different! >:D

No, that seems to be the case. It's up in North America but not in Europe :(

No demo for us yet, sorry. In fact I don't think there's a concrete release date for this in Europe yet other than "maybe April".
#34 Posted by HeyImPhoenix (169 posts) -

@SuperWristBands: @mwng:

Well that's a kick in the face! I had a really excited feeling when I saw this topic.

#35 Posted by Sterling (2704 posts) -

Europe seems to get boned on gaming releases. It seems to me that you guys are usually the last region to get most games.

#36 Posted by mwng (956 posts) -
@oulzac: It has it's upsides, as we tend to get snazzy editions, and it gives me an excuse to complain about it. I really like complaining about it...

I think Australia has it worse, they're on the same stupid release schedule, plus they have to pay a bunch more for no real reason.
#37 Posted by Hector (3380 posts) -

Loved the demo. Can't wait to play the full game in 3 weeks.

The demo was just two combat missions and some story from the prologue. It doesn't spoil anything and doesn't last long enough to make you feel like you will have to replay alot of stuff once you get the full game either.

#39 Posted by mazik765 (2316 posts) -

I am in love with this game after the demo (even more so than I was before the demo) but I have to ask: was the Japanese version fully voice acted, like Devil Survivor: Overclocked? In the demo I thought it was weird how each piece of dialogue was either entirely voice acted, partially voiced acted, or merely had a single word or grunt in front of it. Anyone know if this is just an issue of not being able to have the full voice work done by the time the demo went to cert, or if this is how the game is going to be?

#40 Posted by coakroach (2492 posts) -

Oh sweet might be a good time to get a 3DS

Let's see, Australian release date is... April

Oh fuck you Nintendo, and your regions that make no sense

#41 Posted by kishinfoulux (2520 posts) -

There's not many times a demo completely sells me on a game I had no interest in. This is one of those games. Just preordered before from Amazon. Pretty excited about this. I encourage people to give the demo a shot, even if you haven't played the series before like myself. It's pretty great.

Now I just hope Amazon delivers on time. They had a potential warning about shipping delays.

Is this just for the US?

#43 Posted by mattgriffin (72 posts) -

@rjayb89: Same here. I'm glad that demo has a 30 limit instead of 5 like another one I played recently.

#44 Posted by MariachiMacabre (7099 posts) -

The demo got me really excited for this game. In retrospect, I shouldn't have played it because now it's gonna be hard waiting for the 4th.

U.S. and Canada.

No, it wasn't. Only the CG cutscenes were fully voiced in the Japanese version, and that looks to be how it'll be in the English version too.

#47 Posted by Vaancor (247 posts) -

Just finished the demo and gotta admit, it's very nice. The 3D in it is great, it looks like I'm looking into a box that a bunch of people are playing Warhammer or some other table top game in. Never been into the Fire Emblem franchise but I might give this a try, depending on how busy I am around release.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply! I'm still super excited for this game :D
