Anime vs game vs manga

For a long time I wanted to watch the anime series of Frist of the North Star, but never got around to it. Now I have played the game and skipped most story scenes not to spoil myself.
Has anybody watched, played and read all versions of this franchise and what is the best way to experience the story.

I played about 30 minutes of the game and sent it back to Gamefly. I didn't care much for it.

The story isn't original. They go through the first part of the manga, which tells of Kenshiro's story and highlights the conflict with his brothers. If you play the other characters, you get slightly different events. Honestly, you can watch it and it won't spoil or ruin anything. The stories presented in the game are faithful to the original stories, so don't worry about anything being ruined.

@Napalm: Thank you for the answer. I will just watch the cutscenes from now on. What is your favorite version of the story?

@ParaParaKing: All I've sen in the original anime film, bit I've read enough of the history to know the earlier events. I don't all of the details down to a T, but the movie is what I've seen.
