Space Deer and Flotilla both have the same level of awesome

Flotilla is an interesting game. You look at screenshots of the combat and see screenshots of the world map and might think this is from two different games, and you wouldn't be far off. The two parts of Flotilla are complete opposites to eachother and this works well. The cross between Animal Space Adventure game and strategy space combat sim is concepts that somehow work well. This turns out to be quite an enjoyable game.

if you're think that Flotilla is a game that will take hours and hours to finish then you will be disapointed with the length. You die once, you start your next adventure from the start. Your character has a disease which gives him 7 months to live. As one final hoorah you set off on one last adventure. On this adventure you'll find crazy trigger happy crocodiles, intergalatic space deer police, fugitve toucans and a smooth talking
flamingo trader. As you can tell the game doesn't not take itself seriously which is part of it's insane charm. When you play multiple times you'll start to see these characters again. You'll love certain characters and hate, it's awesome. Also let me just use this as a forum of 'fuck that deer'

The other part of Flotilla is the space combat. It's very hard to explain but has complex strategy but isn't very deep. All you really do is move your ships, aim and fire. The ships have weak point on them. Getting behind them or below them will get you extra damage but besides that it isn't that complex. No fuel meters, no charging laser, no real complexity. this isn't a bad thing as Flotilla is a 'pick-up-put-down' game. There is a small upgrade system as you find perks which you can add to you ships like speed boasts, better bottom armor and the like but that's it. The acutal strategy is quite fun though. Going through debris shooting at ships, flanking enemy ships which the options of standard, flank and focus fire movement options.

The overall package of Flotilla is very reasonable, it has very low system specs (running on my notebook and get a awesome framerate), a very reasonable price of $9.99 and has quite alot of replay value. But don't except to play Flotilla for 5 hours straight but if your bored and wanting a bite size game with a little spice then Flotilla may suit your needs.
