So how does this work? Are you actually matching the uploaded image with images on the site? I'm sure there's a lot of interesting things going on behind the scenes!
It's actually a mix of APIs.
I don't match the images on this site, that would take way too long and consume an infinite amount of bandwidth. I use google image search, treat the result and then make a search on GiantBomb with the result I got.
This sounds awesome! Does it work on game disks or cartridges? Can I take say, take a picture of a NES game I find at a pawnshop? I may need to get a cell phone just for this app.
@therealmoot: Yeah, It'll probably work. But the game's cover is more guranteed ;)
Edit: worked fine with Superman (N64 cartridge), Battletoads (NES cartridge) and Tony Hawk pro skater 4 (PC CD)

Pretty slick way of handling it without having to get neck deep in image processing / computer vision code.
