Search for accented names does not return anything

I've been searching the forums and the documentation and haven't found anything regarding this. I'm having a problem searching for titles that have accented characters on them such as most of the Pokémon titles.

http://api.giantbomb.com/search/?api_key=<KEY>&query=pokemon&resources=game&format=json : only returns "Pokemon-e: Expedition", the one Pokemon game that doesn't have the "é" character.

http://api.giantbomb.com/search/?api_key=<KEY>&query=pokémon&resources=game&format=json : returns nothing.

Anything I can do to circumvent this?

It doesn't work on the site either. The only reason it sometimes works is because of aliases, which the API doesn't account for.
