Yes I need to work on the name :P.

I started work on a iPhone/iPod Touch web app in my free time the past couple of days. I have never made anything for the iPhone/iPod touch before so thought I would have some fun and give it a go.

Thought I would give a little preview of what I have been working on and what is to come. This is very early in development stages, but hopefully shouldn't take to long to get it out and in use.

So here are some screenshots of the character view page:

This is the character overview page. Will most likely move some stuff around.

If you scroll down a little you will see this list, and just click to view one.

Part of the description page.

All the games, click one to go to its page :)

This kind of gives you an overview of what I plan on supporting.

Looking really great so far. Are you thinking about making it open source? I've never written an iPhone app, but I'm interested in doing so, and it'd be cool to study your app as you write it. I'd also be a little more motivated and willing to help out with things here and there.

Looks great! I would like the main page to look like the quick-bar on the iPhone or the bar in Sportacular. It look alot like the iPod in the iPhone.

Just wanted to give an update and let everyone know that work is coming along great so far.

I have finished up the pages to view accessories, characters, companies, games, objects, and hard at work on the other pages.

I also have got a big chunk of the search done (which is the center of everything :P)

I will be looking for a few "beta" testers to go through the site and take a look around see if they run across any bugs, and make sure everything looks good, and give feedback. If you are interested please send me a PM and I will contact you when I am ready to have you break the site! (Please own a iPhone / iPod Touch)

The API doesn't allow for either of those, so no.
If anyone was going to make an app to do that, it would have to be the Whiskey Media guys.

Alright, I am gonna go ahead and throw it out for everyone to start using. Still some minor things might need some work, but should be fully functional (except for the Bombcast section).

There is still many features I will be adding (better filtering, advanced search, etc). But I hope everyone enjoys it, and gets some use out of it :).

I do plan on doing some more mobile platforms since the site is modular (using a template engine).

It may be a possibility once I have everything running smooth.

Do you plan on doing something about those links? If a link points to http://i.gamersfeed.com/nintendo/65-90/ it should be possible to parse the URL to grab the ID and direct the user to the appropriate page on iBomb, no?
You'd have to keep track of stuff like 61=game, 65=company, and so on, but it would make things a lot easier for users who don't want to have to search it themselves or go to the site on their iPhone.

Just an update. There was a change in the structure that the API returns results that broke my site, and I didn't even notice :P.

So everything should be up and running again, and hopefully hold you off until the official Giant Bomb app is released.

You've done a really nice job on the app! I stopped using it a while ago because for some reason it wasn't functioning on my iPod, but it seems to be working fine now.

Well I just pushed an update out.

It now supports the Bombcast and Videos, both you can watch/listen right from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Hope to do user reviews, new releases and some other things next.

What's the difference between the browser in Android and iPhone? Can't you just go to the site and start surfing?

@Freek: The scores displayed don't seem to account for the half stars that are possible with user reviews. And there appear to be some weird formatting bugs all around, most notably with some characters being turned into gibberish like "â€œ".

Hrm... the API doesn't seem to show the .5 score, for example this review is a 4.5 on the site, yet the API only responds with a 4, so it might be a bug.

As for the odd characters seems to be an encoding problem, I changed the encoding see if that looks better. If not could you post a link to a page one of the errors so I can take a look.
